New Spark Plugs + No Speeding + Clean Air Filter = 41 mpg
New Spark Plugs + No Speeding + Clean Air Filter = 41 mpg
Finally... Just need to maintain your car, right? I think this is the right forum.
Got the elusive 40 mpg last tank. Hopefully I can replicate this in the times of $3+ pump prices, eh?
I cleaned my K&N, changed out the old Denso plugs (50K miles on them), changed the oil and didn't bring RPMs past 4K and kept speeds below 65 mph.
I figure the plugs will pay for themselves in about 7 or 8 fill-ups because of the 5-7% gain in mileage.

Re: New Spark Plugs + No Speeding + Clean Air Filter = 41 mpg
I have AEM short ram, Borla Cat back, two 15's in the trunk and I run atleast 80 mph for an hr a day. 30 min to and from work, in an auto ex (D17). I still get about 32 or 33 mpg. So I am happy with that.
I run Mobil 1 5w 30 tri synthetic oil with a K&N oil filter. Change it every 5000. NGK plugs every couple years and a tranny service every 6 months.
