usually popping out of gears means that there isnt enough oil in it...check the oil level and go to honda get some of the synthetic fluid it requires not conventional motor oil and try it...but yes i do believe that the 01-03 tranny's had that as a minor problem

I do have that manual trans still... it’s a 01 but it shifts better then my 02 MT ever did... For the rebuild I'm just replacing the input shaft bearing and checking all the specs... the gears synchronizers and shafts have no wear even after 120k. Maybe we could do a core exchange?

A manual trans popping out of gear is usually caused by the synchronizers or the shafts being out of alignment not low oil. A grind or notch in the shift can be caused by low oil though.
