Removing door panel from a 2002 civic

HELP Please!

I am tring to find out and repair my wifes 2002 civic driver door lock. It will not open or close with the keyless buttons, and only works with the key in the door. I am trying to get in to have a look but have no idea how to get into the door panel. I cannot find a screw anywhere.

Can someone lead me to an illustration or offer some assistance? I am asuming it is the solenoid, and if I ever get in there, and find it is a defective solenoid, sould I be able to buy this at a parts place like Kragen or Auto Zone, or would I have to go to the dealer?

Thanks in advance,

mike

Don’t have the door panel off? Go buy a "trim panel remover" from Napa or Shucks. There are other thread on here that explain this but real quick to save you guys some time…Unscrew everything you can from the door (two screws by the door handle behind a plate, removed the door handle), and then start from the bottom by the speaker and run the trim panel removed along the bottom until you bump into the clips, straddle them with the tip and apply some leverage and POP goes the clip. There are several around the door.

i had the same problem. I had to buy the door lock assembly from majestic honda. The part is like 37 dollars. There is a thread on here showing you how to do it but I'm not sure where it is. It takes a little time to do and you'll need some wd40 to loosen some of the metal rods.

Re: Removing door panel from a 2002 civic

BTW, there are two screws behind a panel you can pry out with a razorblade in the door handle area (inside), and then also in the pocked on the door near the arm rest- there is a little trap door for a screw, pry it up, dont pry it off, and you can access the screw... then go around with the trim panel removal tool I was talking about- u can get at napa, whatever, and then get your door panel off... pop the clips out, and then lift it up.

this is assuming you have a coupe, if you have a sedan, the screw are in a differnt spot

Re: Removing door panel from a 2002 civic

Removing the door panels can be found on the front speaker install diy. Just ignore the speaker removal steps in the beginning
