Cam shaft 180 degrees out
Cam shaft 180 degrees out
A local mechanic recently replaced the head gasket on my 1990 Civic DX four door sedan. The engine is a replacement D15B2 which is supposedly from Japan. The mechanic said the shop manual instructed him to replace the cam shaft 180 degrees from the way it came out. He put it in according to the manual. The car starts fine and runs but with less power than before the head gasket was replaced. My qusetion is: Does it matter whether the cam shaft is 180 degrees out?

Re: Cam shaft 180 degrees out
first, the d15b2 didnt come from japan. second, ive never seen a manual say to take a perfectly good cam out and turn it 180 degrees and put it back in. if it came one way, why take it out and rotate it? i would take it to another shop or do it youself.
