Has anyone installed HID on the new civic?

Greetings from a noob!

Has anyone installed HID on the new civic?

I found the stock headlights on mine are soooo dim. I figured that all these white/blue halogen bulbs won't actually increase the brightness of the lights (in contrats to their ads), so I'm actually considering putting HID on it.....

Does anyone have recommendation? Or if you disagree with my statement about the halogen bulbs above, feel free to jump in!

Thanks in advance

I'm actually interested in this conversion also!!!
I currently have an S2k which I'll be trading and I'd like to keep the projectors on the new civic I'm picking up on Tuesday.

Any input would be appreciated!

Asie of the HID's how the hell are you suppose to change the halogens when they burn out? It seems impossible. Do you have to take it in and have themn remove a quarter of the engine compartment? 15 bucks for headlights and then 80 dollars an hour for labor?!

I think that's a lot of cars now a days, especially here at Lexus. They charge 0.5 hours / $52 to replace a taillight bulb. Some are nice and only flag 0.3 / $31.20. The noise kits on the engine bay are ridiculous in the Lexus vehicles.

The engine bay seems soo tight in the new Civic, I haven't had a chance to look at how to change a light bulb either. I'm sure you'd have to unscrew/unbolt everything just to get to the light bulb. Take a look at the trunk... You can't even access any of it. Isn't it one-piece?

Thumbs up

I work in a shop and I have done lightbulb changes on civic. I don't know how much we charge but it takes no tools and barely 5 minutes per lightbulb. There is a ring around the wire connecting to the bulb. get that off and you should have no problems.

I would love to know what HID package you used to upgrade your lights, please. It looks fantastic.

There have been countless people that have done a true HID retrofit on the new civics.

Here's one for reference:

Re: Has anyone installed HID on the new civic?

Well, if nothing else you can decide what kind of HID's you want to go with.. a full retrofit or more of a pnp kind of kit.

Plus, I thought you were simply asking if it had been done so I provided a picture of an alternative to the pnp kit. It's pricey, but looks so nice (if done properly).

Re: Has anyone installed HID on the new civic?

Has anyone gotten HID from www.xenonlink.com ? They are listed on there for $135 with free shipping, but the engine compartment looks so tight is it difficult to find a place for the ballasts to go? I've always wanted HID lights and this looks really affordable and is pnp. Anyone have suggestions on ballast placement?

Re: Has anyone installed HID on the new civic?

my only suggestion is to check out 8thcivic.com and look through all the threads on it.. That white si is a mods car over there, and about half the fg2 owners there (it seems) have done retro's.

Re: Has anyone installed HID on the new civic?

i have them on mine now. I sale them too for 135 shipped. i placed the ballast on the little arm that runs from the fender to the engine bay frame. go in through the wheel well, its the easiest way. it took me maybe 45 minutes to remove both front tires and install. my kits are plug in play. Xenon Eyes, check em out.

Re: Has anyone installed HID on the new civic?

by the way, the ones i have are not the retro's. they are HID kits. I am also assuming you are talking about the projectors like BMW's and S2000's when you say retro.
