Do aftermarket alarams require cutting/splicing factory wirring?
Hi, I am looking to get an alarm for my car, nothing really to steal in my car, more for a deterant for a punk breaking to try to find something.
I really dont want to mess with cutting factory wiring, do aftermarket alarms requrie cuttting/splicing of factory wires?
If so, that is why I was considering the honda alarm, its really plug and play with no cutting involved, the only thiing is i dont think it has a shock sensor??? rather just triggerd by the door/trunk pins and uses the horn and parking lights........
I am really just looking for a deterant, i dont have a system in my car, just a deck and i remove the faceplate.........do you guys think this is good enough, is a shock sensor really that big of a deal?

honda alarms do ahve a shock sensor.....but they dont do a very good job sensing...
my 02 accord had a shock sensor (i once tried to take my wheels off with my impact gun while the alarm was still on. and the shock impact from the gun activated my alarm)

I installed mine and had to splice. It isn't easy to install and alarm on your own though. The diagrams are hard as is, and then you have to match them up with the honda diagram for your security harness.
In retrospect I would pay 80 bucks to get it installed.
But if you need help let me know.
What year car do you have?

i checked the price its $120 USD.... kinda pricey...... i can get a basic aftermarket for $99CDN installed...........however the honda one I could install myself....
So I guess its not worth it..........? the con is that it doesnt have a shock sensor, i figure if they break in they are going to open the door and the alarm will go off.......so i dont even know the lack of a shock sensor is a big deal
the pro is that it doesnt require wiring cutting and that i can install it myself.......the main point of an alarm i guess is deterant and i suppose this will do the trick??
Aftermarket alarms are EASY installs on our cars. It's like an hour and a half job with remote start/Transponder bypass.
Unless you get into a lot of fancy shmancy add-ons, the only wire you actually have to cut, is the starter wire. The rest is just splicing.
Otherwise, if you're not comfortable, just pay the cash and get one installed.
Haha otherwise if you're really just looking for a deterent, just buy one of those flashing LEDs. lol
