Speaker size

I went to circuit city, to get some speakers. The back of the box of the 6x9s says it fits coupe/sedan civic 95-05...same thing for the 6.5 inch. I get to installing them, and what do you know, the 6x9s dont go ANYWHERE, and Im ****ed. I return the 6x9 spekaers, but didnt get anything else for now. I have the 6.5 inchers laying next to me, so my question is this

What size speakers go into the 2001 honda civic SEDAN...both for the front doors and the back panel. THe guy looked at my back speakers and said they look like 6.5s, so thats why i kept them, but he siad he cant tell the size of the fronts thru the doors, and said that their comp is often times wrong. He said the front doors are 6.5 as well as the back. What is the actual size of speakers that goes in my car

6x9's in the rear. You have to modify it so the magnet will clear the bars in the trunk.

What part of my statement did you miss.

1. I have a sedan
2. I checked, and there is NO room for the 6x9s to go there...there would need to be some serious cuttingg and stuff to make a hole for them.

i also have a 2001 lx sedan, and i fit 6.5's in the front and rear deck. this is the set i used for the fronts Polk Component Set because it comes with tweeters that you can mount on the sail panels (and it sounds niice). for the rear i used Polk 6.5's. they're basically just another set of 6.5's but without the tweeters. of course an amp will get the most out of this setup.

btw i also had the 6x9 headache. my alpine 6.x9's wouldnt fit without cutting and i was not about to do that.

sedan...6.5s all the way around.

you need a bracket to make the fronts fit properly. I am not sure of the site that has them, but you may be able to get it at Circuit City as well.

depending on the ACTUAL size of the 6.5s you get for the rear, some modification may be needed. The ones I got (Clarion) don't allow the holes to reach the edges of the metal all the way around, so I made little brackets that allow them to connect. Some other 6.5s i've heard are too big for the rear holes, so people have to modify the other way sometimes!

I had to use an inch spacer in the front for my 6.5's, ten bucks at ccity, as far as the rear goes no modification should be necessary other than the holes not linning up perfectly, the bars wont be a problem as long as you stick with the polks. Actually CCity dropped infinity, so i dont think they sell anything that will be a problem.

SEDAN (through research and personal experience)
Rear = 6.5" standard

Front, depends on how you want it to be installed....
1. You want to make sure the speaker stay at near the surface = 6.0" or smaller, with a 155mm diameter, at least 53mm thick spacer.
2. You don't mind the speaker stay deep inside and you don't get direct raidation from the speaker = 6.5" with undersized magnet, install directly on the steel door panel.

Anything else would cause your plastic door not closing properly. ie. installing a 6.5" speaker with 1" standard 6.5" speacer can cause the front of the door panel to pop out.

The best way to do is to take out the factory speaker and measure the thickness and the diameter. It will ensure that you have ALL the sound that you paid for.

Go to crutchfield.com. See which ones fit your car. You will see that there are a couple 6x9 speakers that fit the rear, but also ones that don't for the coupe. For the sedan, I don't see any 6x9. Also you will see that not all 6.5will fit in the front and rear. So basically, don't go strictly by what size the speakers are.

my polk's didn't clear either my rear deck or my front doors. i had to get creative with my friend the razor blade. after a little trimming of the inside plastic everything sat flush....but with no sound damping they are prone to annoying rattles.
