Plastic Intake Manifold Gasket
Check this out. I ran one when I had the y8 manifold. I put a new oem one back on when I put on the new manifold and I wish I'd kept the old one. The new one is now leaking and I have an annoying *** leak causing a 2k idle. Anyways, they're supposed to be good at dissipating heat and keeping the intake from heatsoaking, check out the thread....

I just ordered a new one today, should be here tomorrow. Shipping was fast, great transaction. I talked to Sean and he was talking about making one for the d17.
All I need to do when I get it is mark and drill a few holes real quick. I will post up results.

Yeah, you can bet you'll see gains, even with a plastic im. The problem is that the thin metal gasket doesn't do much in the way of dissipating heat. The problem is the heat coming off of the head goes straight back to the manifold and the manifold has to dissipate the heat. By putting this gasket in, it lowers your actual intake temps at the manifold ports by removing the heat coming off the head so less comes in contact with the manifold itself, allowing the manifold to be more efficient at cooling the intake instead of the heat from the head.

Well the d16 gasket doesn't work. There is a port between #2 and 3 that the gasket doesn't quite cover so the d16 one won't work. If he starts making d17 ones, I will post it up.

I talked to sean at power rev today. He's picking up a d17 gasket today and going to start on it tonight. They should be ready to ship in about 1-2 weeks. I also sent him this link so I assume he'll be posting up.
It makes realy a nice blockage between intake and block my friends has
it sitting on his TEG. Noticed take the intake pipe get realy hot too so
i think of getting intake thermo wrap. check it

Any of you guys running a CAI or SRI that is aluminum should heat wrap it, especially if you intend on making use of one of these gaskets. The aluminum will rappidly absorb heat from the engine compartment. 7thgens have slightly higher engine compartment temps than previous gens making an aluminum intake slightly less effective. Then only time my intake used to get cool was in sub freezing conditions.
