HELP/Question: Double DIN??
HELP/Question: Double DIN??
Hey guys im to familiar when it comes to sounds systems but i do wanna atleast replace my head unit and speakers with something nice. But pertaining to my topic this is what i want to know.
-I currently own an 05 EX sedan with the single DIN unit-
-I want to install a flush mount screen, kinda like whats being put in the 06+ Civics-
-Ive currently looked at all the aftermarket companies like Crutchfield and a few others from my local stereo shop, but they say no one makes a double DIN unit to replace the factory one, meaning i would have to go with a pop out screen. Which i DONT want-
-This is what i came across, the 05 LX SE's have the larger silver head unit, that COVERS the whole DOUble din unit. If i buy the DD piece from Honda would i be able to install an aftermarket unit like im looking for, say jensen, pioneer, eclipse.-
-I just really want that flush, upscale look-
Any help or confusion with what im asking for please let me know. thanx again

I believe someone bought the SE double din and it worked, but like chowmailap said, metra makes one and you can get it at CC though they'll probably have to order it. I have a double din eclipse AVN 5435 and I used the metra kit.
I have the metra kit and a kenwood DD. It took a little trimming on the metra face plate, but overall it fits pretty good. Most people who have seen it comment on thier own that it looks nice. In my case, the top gap is a little too large and there was no gap on the bottom. The screen wouldn't open because of the metra face plate being too tight on the bottom. A little careful trimming and sanding fixed it right up.

i had the grey double DIN factory unit and replaced it with an eclipse avn 5435, fit's perfect and no modification needed, so if you can get the honda piece (SE or Reverb piece) for a good price, go with that.
^now that is nice-looking....it's about time i upgraded the head unit....does that unit have video inputs? and it appears to play dvds so i should be able to hook my old ps2 up, right??
Hell yah guys... Rep's to all of you. Thats exactly what i wanted to see. Can i see pics of the METRA piece. I priced the SE one from Honda, and its almost $100 for the piece i need. But if its better than i may go with it over METRA and keep that factory clean look. Thanx again

I just went to Honda and got an 05 consel for my 04 vic. It fits perfect with my double-din z1. I only paid 72 dollars for it. I would check to see if there selling u the right part.

just go to the dealership and ask for it. they can look it up no problem, and will even show you a picture on their computer screen so you know exactly what you will be buying.
they do it all the time, as does every parts department at every dealership ive talked to.
no part number needed. thats what their computers are for!
your other alternative is you can go into the parts department and ASK for the part number. they will be able to look it up for you no problem.
