shock/springs or coilover recommendations needed
hey all i finally got a job with which i can afford to spend some cash on my civic. it's an 01 LX but i'm stuck with it at least untill i get out of college (another 3 years) so i want to make it a car i enjoy to drive around in instead of just kinda being a car. one of the main things is suspension. i already have a rear strut bar and a progress front sway bar. what kind of springs/shocks would be recommended? i'ld like to drop it about 1-1.5" but the suspension doesn't have to be autocross performance worthy or anything. i'm just using it for normal driving around chicago, so it can't be crappy or too low or i'll destroy the car.
pretty much, what are some decent springs/shocks or all in one coilovers that i can get to do the drop? one of the main ones i was considering were the basic tein all in one coilovers. all suggestions welcome

If you don't have alot of money go with neuspeed sports and tokico blues... if you got money go with tein ss. Lot's of members here have konis and love them. Depends if you want adjustability or not but chances are you are like me and just want decent suspension w/o a stiff ride all the time. Good Luck with your decision.

tokico blues(HP's) and some neuspeed sports will give you the drop you are looking for. I have them and its a good ride, not to firm or soft and mine is a daily driver all the time so i suggest that pair. As a matter of fact truehonda has a sale on the shocks right now, here is a link http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=277092 total i spent on both of them was around $550 with both on sale, check out www.namotorsports.net for the springs

Blues + a good lowering spring would be a good choice for a street driven car.
I would also recomend that you pick up Progresses adapter setup for adding a rear anti-roll bar. Well worth it on a FWD car.

Don't mean to jack the thread but anyone here have an 03+ civic with a bigger rear swaybar like an rsx sway than the front. We got shafted with the front sway being 15.9mm and I'm wondering how the handling is affected having a bigger bar in the back. In theory it should increase oversteer but wanted to know from personal experience.

Personal experiance.
anti-roll bar setups I've used.
1. stock (25.4mm front, 13mm rear)
2. Not so stock, (25.4mm front 19mm rear)
3. Still not so stock( No front, 19mm rear)
4. Current setup (15.9mm front, 25.4mm rear)
of all the current setup has been the best. If I were running stiffer springs I probably wouldnt have a front anti-roll bar at all.
Note: my car is preped for and used for both autocross and open track.

yeah, i was considering it zzyzx, but im happy with just the front bar, and i think once i get the upgraded springs/shocks it'll be enough for my purposes. plus the 500$ i'ld spend on the rear bar+install kit could go toward a nice LCd head unit =)

I can vouch for this set up....
Perfect looking drop, not to low not to high....just right. And I bought my shocks from ebay, and my neuspeeds from where rhcp0801 bought his. All in all it was cheap plus the ride is like stock but lower.

I have neuspeed sports, and the drop is nice. little lower than 1.5, but my tires don't tuck, which is nice. I also have Tokico D-specs, and I think the handle very well. They cost more than the Tokico Blues, which a lot of people have on this board, but they don't have an adjustable damper.
I have my setup pretty stiff, which is a lot stiffer than stock, but I like it like that. However I have used the softest settings, and wow!!! it rides wayyyyyyy smoother than stock suspension.
If the adjustable damper is important to you, get something like the D-specs, or even the Tein SS. If you don't need the adjustable damper, just go for the Tokico Blues.

i have them, they do settle
does anyone know if drop springs settle and drop lower even if they are used springs? i just installed a set of used neuspeed race springs and they don't look low at all. they look like a neuspeed sport drop.
