true or false n2o question

FALLACY: Premium fuel must be used with N2O injection.
FACT: The purpose of N2O injection is to support the combustion of extra fuel, thereby releasing more work-producing heat in the combustion chambers. Consequently, maximum cylinder pressures with N2O will be higher than when it isn't in use. Extra cylinder pressure does tend to cause pre-ignition and uncontrolled combustion, but as previously described, N2O injection also tends to suppress detonation. With most street N2O systems, these two opposing forces tend to cancel each other out, which means you can continue to use the same octane gas that was acceptable before the N2O was added. Because competition N2O systems inject a greater quantity of N2O and gasoline than do street N2O systems, cylinder pressure is frequently raised to the point where a higher octane fuel (or anti-detonation additives) must be used.
i found this statement at this site and was wondering whether it was true or not
http://nitrousdirect.com/nitrous.html

i was planning on getting a wet kit just to have some fun (35-50 shot) but i dont want to have to fill up on premium whenever i feel like using it. i read this FAQ type deal and was pretty excited about it but i dont know if it really applies to our engines so all i need is a little confirmation of whther this is valid or not

i searched i swear! all i read was that most people are running 91 or 93 but if i dont need to i dont want to!!

it is a good idea to run premium when u want to shoot it. just put a few gallons in before u go to the track. i even ran it a few times with med grade with no issue. i wouldnt recomend useing cheap gass if u plan on shooting it alot.

running higher octane gas has almost the same effect as retarding your ignition timing, just to a lesser extent. You should be able to get away with running a 35 shot on 87 at an easy bottle pressure somewhat safely. with a 50 shot i would not run 87 i would at the very least run 89. IMO your taking a risk not running 91+ on a 50 shot or higher. If you want to risk your engine for an extra 20-30cents a gallon go for it. Its up to you. I consider it cheap insurance.

for all practical purposes higher octane shouldn't be needed, the NAAAAWWWZZZZZ has a tremendous cooling effect that suppresses detonation in most applications. As long as your running a wet system and have had it checked with a wideband i wouldnt worry about higher octane

Anyone who tells you that you have to run "x" octane at a certain HP-Shot is guessing with out factual tunning you really have no idea. All thou you can error on the side of caution and buy 91+ all the time

yea, dats what i figured and what i found on the site i was quoting, i just read everywhere that everyone was running 91 or higher and i didnt know if i had to or not

i feel like i will be safe with the 35 and if i feel like moving up to 50/75 (probably will) ill get it check w/ a wideband and run higher grade

also planning on getting a window switch so i think ill be good to go pretty soon

what is the effect of running 93 on your engine whenyou arent spraying? isnt it bad for it since it resists detonation/ignition?
