ohh ohh, paint is chipping off

what can i do to have the paint better "stick" to the plastic??
If you guys are prepping the surface with sandpaper, what grit, kind of primer that works best, etc....
And also, what is the best method to removing the old paint, so I may have a clean surface to start on?

Before you start flamming......Yes i searched, That's the reason i'm still a "NEWBIE", i seach, and don't post FAQ's.

ummmm, ok smart A$$ i'll play your game......hmmmm search...."painting".......ohh wow, lOOk...the same thing that was there before!! NOTHING that answers my question! like i said, i searched, and there was nothing that had any good tips on keeping the paint from chipping off. i was asking for different methods other people tried. Especially to strip the old paint off, and start over.

but i should of known, had to get flamed at least once

if yur talking about painting trim pieces. Its fairly simple. What you should do is wipe them down with a clean rag to get any dirt off. Next, take some white primer (plasti-kote seems to be the brand of choice) and spray a couple of coats down. Then, spray whatever color you want. Finally, the best protection you can put on is a few coats of clear to help seal the paint. I did my trim pieces about 8 months ago, and they are still perfect. Good Luck

What would be the best method to strip all the old paint, and start on a clean surface?

okay little squirt, lets try this again....

if you would search for painting in all the forums you'd find something like this for prepping the spark plug cover,

this has good paint for interior,

wanna clean, read this.....

and finally, something about painting the plastic on the engine, but i dont care to read it

perhaps if you actually explained what your n00b *** is painting we might be able to help a little better, but, please, dont try flaming with that little bic lighter

You do realize avenger that you spend more time being an than actually helping. Why bother saying anything at all? Any more these days I'll read a thread that has a question, followed by 5 others just like you that use the magic search word! I may not have much to say on these boards, but at least I can show a little respect by keeping my mouth shut when I have nothing intellgent to say in response. Shesh

anyways, thanks for the stripper gel info, never thought of that. will it eat the plastic?
