August 26th at 1pm - Tinley Park, IL White Castles eating competition
There is a White Castles eating competition being held on August 26th in Tinley Park at the Star/Southtown newspapers building. The contest is at 1pm, and is only one of the many events they are hosting that day. Winners get posted up in the local newspaper, and all proceeds go to benefit a local charity. ($20 to enter I believe).
Rules: You get 15 minutes to eat as many burgers as you can. You cannot dunk them into liquids, and you cannot allow the burgers to make a second guest appearance within 2 minutes of the competition closing.
One of my friends is going to be eating in the competition, so I will be there cheering him on. If you don't know anybody in the competition, look for the big dude that looks like one of the cavemen from those Gieco commercials. He's around 6'4" 265 and hairy like an ape. Cheer loud & proud in support of "Monkey-Boy" Stevie D..... just don't be TOO close to him while cheering that (he isn't too fond of his very fitting nickname) hehe.
It should be a fun time!
The address:
Star Publications
6901 W. 159th St.
Tinley Park, IL 60477
It's next door to Menards on the South side of 159th street, mid way between Oak Park Ave. and Harlem Ave.

Here's the info on the days events.

You should come on out!
My buddy that is entered into the competition eats a lot of Subway normally. His regular meal is THREE footlong Subway Clubs. His standing offer is: If you'll pay for the extra one, he'll eat FOUR feet for your viewing entertainment. He's not like the Japanese guy that can eat fifty-somthing hotdogs, but he is quite an eating machine for being a regular guy.
He does not like Slyders very much, but he'll still pack them in. He says "I won't let you down Mikey" (as if he's eating them to benefit me hehe). We know he can be the "Old champion"... that is for sure, but we don't know who else might show up from the neighborhood. It'll be good entertainment, win or lose.

Just got back. A03's bud won the event with a staggering 26 sliders.
Here's a pic of the event before, unfortunatly, the old guy in the white hat is standing right in front of the winner.

There was also a car show there with a Neon with the licence plate "ALL SHOW".

It must have been just a base neon. Look at how tiny the rotor looks inside the huge wheel
:

My daughter and I had a great time. I got to eat some White Castles (only 4), check out a TPFD Fire Truck, and check out some really nice classic cars.

What a fun time! It was nice to meet up with another 7thgen member, and great to see the monkey win the contest.
Jason (ICR) That baby carrier is a great invention!
I'll have video soon if anyone is interested. I'm going to be ripping it from the camera tonight, and will be able to send it online if you'd like to see it.
