Amp wiring stock head unit question
Ok heres my situation. I have a amp with built in high level inputs and they work great. I wanna wire it to the car without very much difficulty so heres wut ive done so far. I spliced into the wires that go into the 6X9s and ran those to the high level inputs. I connected my power to the battery and an inline fuse. NExt i grounded it to the spare tire. Is this a good spot? Next thing is the remote wire. Since I dont want to remove my stock HU can i just run a fuse tap off the radio fuse? This seems like a reasonable idea. THe manual for my amp says the remote can be 7-15VDC, so I should be okay rite?
As long as the place you're tapping is the switched power to the HU and not the constant power, I think that should be fine. The amp will stay on whenever the car is on even if the radio is off, but I don't think that'll be a problem. If you tap the constant power, though, then the amp will NEVER turn off and it'll drain your battery.

I personally would NOT tap into the fuse.
"personall" I would go buy some 12V wire,
run the wire form the battery to the trunk &
hook up a toggle switch to the 12V wire.
So you can turn on & off your power through the remote wire.
Its also a very handy "kill switch" if anything bad ever happens.
hope this helped! Good Luck!

its bad juju to have the remote wire on a switch. it creates resistence in the remote wire. just get a circuit tester and test the radio fuse to find out which side is switched power and add a tap. its already fused so you wont have any problems.
or just tap in to the factory harness. Thats the best way to do it. Its not even that hard. that way when you decide to get an aftermarket radio, then that is one less wire you would need to run.
