need help removing automatic shifter cover
Hi all, I'm doing my blue dash light conversion... so I also want to do the lights beside the shifter. I've looked in all the blue dash threads and didn't find anything... Anybody know how to remove the cover so I can get the gel underneath the shifter out? See attached pic, I'm talking about the chrome cover.
Thanks for all your help.
Thanks for all your help.
i think its chrome cause he painted it that way.
i think you take the cover off by opening that like box thing with a flat head screw driver and un-screwing the screw in there... im really not sure though cause i never did it.

It's chrome because it comes like that. Acura 1.7EL only available in Canada... basically an EX, with VTEC... Touring comes with wood & chrome interior accents, side airbag, different style grille, hood, headlights, 4-wheel discs. In addition, Premium has sunroof and leather seats.
Can't find the screw, I'll just have to look harder then. Thanks.

the peaice on yours thats crome, it stuck on their pretty tite, i starting yanking at it the other day trying to do the same thing, but didnt want to break it. i did however get the front of it up just enough to take out the glass peice that contains all the letters. make sure u dont touch it anywhere its visible, for some reason its a bitch to clean. anyways, on the back of it, under each letter, theres a green oval, which when the light hits it, it causes the letter to illuminate a bit. what i have done it, i took fingernail polish remover, and wiped off all that green oval stuff, and then its all just clear. i am currently looking for blue gels, and am going to put those below that peice so light should shine through blue. or i mihgt just drill 2 holes in the side of it, and stick in 2 blue lights, and take out the white one. i havent finished this yet, so am not actually sure how good it will look when done.
hope that helps and makes sense...

Here's anonther way:
Take out your shifter first, there are two screws underneath the button
then take out the entire bezel: there are four clips on the black stuff undeneath the bezel
once it's out, turn it upside down and you can remove the bezel by removing 4 clips attached to the black thingy

i just took off the cover, and took out the stock bulb. i then dirlled 2 holes and put two blue leds in, it looks soooo nice. anyways, the cover thing, just pops right off, i thought i was gonna break it, but said ahhh who cares, and pryed it off with a flathead. it feels like youll break it, but u wont. :-D

hey drew, so when you applied nail polish remover, it took away only the green oval stuff? what about the black stuff? and the orange/red stuff? I mean after you wipe with the remover, on the front side, do you still see all the black and the letters?
when i first applied the nail polish remover, i did all the white letters. it completley removed the oval, and the white on it, so it becomes clear. you will just have clear letters. it doesnt do anything to the black around them though.
