To be honest, if you do not know, leave it to a professional. You can hurt the motor more than helping it.

We will be offering PnP heads for the D17 very soon.

If you're going to do it, I suggest you read up on other websites or books, then practice on some junkyard heads. It basically just takes the knowledge of knowing what your doing, and then getting skilled at it.

well a friend of mine is a machinic and he is showing me how to do it. Why should i pay 700.00 which is what port and polishing is going for. I am just taking my time it might take me a long time to do it but thats fine with me.

I would seriously leave it up to someone who is good at it or a professional is always the best at machine work. Its not an easy thing to do.

a flow bench would help too so you can see if what you just did is really better than stock.

I am not sure how much we are going to be doing the service for yet, but an N/A PnP is completely different from a Boosted PnP. Trust me.....leave it to the pros. I will show you what's up with them in about 2-3 weeks.

Do you honestly think you can make a head flow better than Honda with no experience, no tools, and no flowbench?? Not to be a **** but you and your friend are going to ruin your head. Honda heads are very sensitive. I have seen plenty of people running more than 500 whp on pump gas and stock port Honda heads. Leave it to a pro. You'll spend less on port work than all the heads you'll hafta buy to get it right.

It took us all winter to do it but we only worked on it on the weekends and i plan on doing mine in the winter but if your cheap for porting and polishing i might have you do it not sure. What are you going to do excally both sides the exhaust and intake?

Then a mechanic is showing you how.......should you not ask him what to use since he's your teacher and the one that would know what he likes to use?

The link I posted is corect but it has too much HTML code in it or somthing so this site abreviated it for whatever reason.....just put the word "port" in the search at jegs......$29.00 for the kit

And just so you know everyone here belives you have done 3 sucessfull PnP's already,..... no......honestly..... really we do

Thanks for the negitaive rep....I wonder who gave that to me?....lol.....I gave you some back but i signed my name....unlike civicliar1988

Maybe i can take some of the flaming off him and put it onto myself by throwing my opinion out there.

Huge waste of time and money to do this unless you've got got a turbo or blower.

just make sure you get bits for PnP an aluminum head. Take your time and use real gentle motions. mostly on a honda head all you really want to do is just clean up the casting, sometimes it leaves burs and stuff that can somewhat effect your flow. You definatly need a flow bench, it will be the only real way to prove you "improved" the flow. Polish the hell out of the exhaust side, but only use like 80 grit on the intake side. What he meant by N/A and Turbo is that for a Boosted head you wanna open the ports up big time, but for N/A you just wanna clean it up. Hope this helps

ya for na i wouldnt even touch the intake ports. you'll ruin the rough surface and make airflow worse. exhaust can be widened a little and matched with a dc header or something. but we're barely talking 10-15whp max if you do a perfect job and also get the valves done 5 angle. dont forget extra expense when you swap the head too. all new gaskets, new fluids, new bolts, etc. it will add up.

great help thanks. Do you feel it is worth it. like its hrd to say i want to do a K20 swap but i odnt have that money laying around but i really like the D17 just becasue seeing what people have done to them like supermex. I just really dont know what i want to tell the truth. I just mainly focused on the exterior and interior then under the hood

I PnP my heads when I was at school at Wyotech and really I only got a few more CFM per intake port and exhaust port, so its not gonna help to greatly. If you build the motor then maybe it will but you gotta think with the money your gonna be spending on parts you could just get a k20, save up for a few years and then build that and have a much faster car. Its up to you tho, I would save and swap rather then try to make something of the D17. Some people have made power but I would still rather swap. I guess I dont have the ***** to make a D17 strong lol. if you do decide to do it make sure u use a flow bench it tells you a lot.
