Red face Dash and Tail lights out, 15A fuse keeps blowing

Hi!

As many other members, I have installed a head unit in my Civic 2002 DX and actually my dash lights, gauges lights and tail lights aren't working. Also, my small light 15A fuse blows each time I replace it. I read a lot of threads about this problem but didn't find a solution yet.

The head unit I have installed is a Panasonic CQ-C3300U and it works fine. Some wires connected directly behind the HU are not hooked up because these wires are for the power antenna, cd changer and amp..

On the wiring harness I bought, those three same wires aren't hooked up but there are also two more unused wires that don't appear directly behind my HU:
1- Illumination/Dash light (Orange (WH) / Red with black stripe (CAR))
2- Dimmer (Orange with black stripe (WH) / Red (CAR))

So my question is if my dash/gauges/tail lights don't work and my small light fuse keeps blowing, is it because those two wires can not be connected to my HU? Will the problem be resolved if I buy a new HU?

disconnect the dimmer wire, thats your problem, and also, you need to connect that power antena wire, even if we dont have one, we have a booster next to the back window that needs power when the HU is on tuner.

The dimmer wire is already disconnected... I have a dimmer wire and an illumination wire on the wiring harness but they can not be used because they can not be associated with any of the wires of the Head Unit... In fact, I was asking where do I connect the ''illumination/dash light'' wire to get my lights back..... Thanks..

the dimmer and illumination wire coming from the car harness does not need to be connected to anything, BUT if you do leave them unconnected, you need to make sure the wires are taped or caped so it does not ground. make sure you cap every unused wires. thats the only thing that i can see is the problem cause you said it only happened since you replaced the HU.

MY LIGHTS ARE BACK!! The plastic end of the wires I left unconnected have been cut and 2mm pre-removed by the manufacturer of the wiring harness. So I thought they were enough protected, no need to tape them. WRONG!! One of these ''not enough protected'' wires were probably touching a metallic part of the car, creating a ground and blowing my small light fuse. I have carefully taped the end of these wires, replaced the small light 15A fuse once more and..... IT WORKS My dash, gauges and tail lights light up when I turn on my headlights!! Thanks a lot
