Noob needs some help!

I recently bought a Kenwood excelon HU... liked the fact that it can sort of control my non-Ipod mp3 player through its USB port.
I have a 01 LX sedan... I bought a 4 channel Audiobahn amp (75wx4) today, and I already have an old Infinity Basslink that I will be putting in my Civic.
So the question is, what speakers should I go for? I am confused by Crutchfield's lack of options for our cars.

I know, it all depends on preference... I have owned kappas in the past, and love them. I am a fan of open, bright sounds, though they need to be balanced out. I listen to a pretty wide variety of music.

SO:
What ACTUALLY fits?
And what fits my needs?

I know I need to pick up a little sound dampening material, but I am not going to be listening to my system that loud, so I am also curious how much of that I need.

Last question- where should I get my wiring kits for my amp and my basslink? Do I need to get name brand expensive stuff, and what are some reputable lower priced alternatives?

Sorry for all the questions, but I appreciate ANY help you guys can give!

You will really like the Kenwood Excelon receiver. I have had several over the years & they are my favorites overall. If you really like the Kappas, get them, they should fit fine. The Alpine type r's should fit also. I have Alpine type S in my 04 sedan, but mine are not amped. The Alpines come with a spacer ring to make installation easier. The Infinities come with one also I think. I used one 12 x 12 square piece of dynamat on each of my speakers & that worked fine. You may have to put some in your trunk with the Basslink, but I would try it without first. I have bought several Monster Amp kits brand new on Ebay pretty cheap.(I have two sons & all their freinds that I help install for) I believe you should try and use as good of wire as you can. It may not audibly sound any better but it will put less stress on your amp.

your issues with rear speakers are the depth of the speaker magnet hitting the trunk sway bar and the vertical height of the speaker not being to high for the rear deck panel. While there is a DIY posted for installing gas struts for your trunk, a little homework and research will avoid you unnecessary frustration. Do some forum searching and proceed carefully.

Don't skimp on wiring or cables - while I don't think the absolute high end monster cabling is necessary, don't buy at radio shack either. stick to 8 gauge or higher wiring for your amp, and keep the electrical wiring apart from the speaker and RCA's. Use quality, shielded RCA's.

Thanks guys... I guess the question is, what is a quality non-Monster brand wiring kit... one that is a notch down in price? Stinger seems pricey too, so I am wondering about other brands... I see cheaper ones all over ebay, but don't know which is decent and which is not. I planned on getting at least 2 8 gauge kits, one for the basslink and one for the amp, but I just don't know where to start.

My head was swimming with the speakers people have tried, so I was hoping somebody could point me to a list of what works with few/no mods. Could be a good idea for a sticky for this forum, it seems... a compiled list of speakers that do and don't work. But I guess these change every year. So, specifically, will Kappas work in both locations? Infinity reference components? Alpine type r's? I was hoping to get a matching set of four... silly, I know... I am just weird, I guess. Thanks again!!

I bought stinger wire kit for my system and regreted it when I went to an electronic store and seen the prices. What's good is you can buy by the foot.
Someone told me to never buy those wires unless you want to set your car on fire, I think thats bull. There is no way these stores would sell those wires if there were chances of it setting fires. They look identical to stinger, but without the name. The only wires I suggest in buying from a well known companies are the RCA's.

So I went ahead and got the dual amp kit that Rockford makes. Got one on ebay for about 55 bucks... it has everything I'll need including speaker wire, so, I figured I could swing that once.

So my question is, will Kappas fit in both the front and back? What about References? Anybody know? I think I read that people got Kappas to fit in the front, but I am not sure. I will search again, but any help would be appreciated.

You can put just about any size in your front door. I've seen 8 inchers in there before. With a little modification, all this is possible. Unless you get some shallow *** speakers, you're gonna have to make a spacer out of MDF to get your front speakers to fit. You might even have to trim out some of the plastic in the door panel speaker grill. I had to do both with my infinity reference's. They were 6 and 1/2s

RAA - think of power wiring kind of like blood vessels....sounds like a dumb analogy but thicker wiring ensures good, clean power to your amp(s).

Socialfly, I have the infinity 6.5's perfects with crossovers installed in the front, and to tell you the truth I don't recomend them if you are looking for bass in the front as well. There frequency starts at 80 hertz, but don't get me wrong the quality of infinity's are great but if I had to do it all over again, I would have bought the alpine type r's or z's for the same price.
