Question Headunit Glare problems

I would like to know which aftermarket headunits do NOT have a daytime glare problem in our 7th generation civics? This is a major problem for me. I have used several headunits & all had a problem. I would also like to see pictures of your headunits installed in the dash. I think this would benefit a lot of us contemplating a headunit install. Also, I am curious as to what headunits you all think match the sedans light scheme the best. I am contemplating installing a Kenwood Excelon KDC-x817, but I have to get the ribbon cable fixed first. I would like to know if anyone has experience with the glare factor of the Kenwood Excelon line before I spend the money to fix my old Kenwood.

I have the same problem with my alpine 9835 headunit because the background of the screen is made black and the numbers and letters are luminated so during the daytime it is a real pain in the ***.If anyone has a solution that would be awsome.

Your SOL with that. Its the design of the car itself that's faulty. Every deck I've used had a glare issue in the daytime. Some decks you could slightly see in the daytime, some decks you could not see at all unless you move your head closer.

If you move your deck to the cigarette lighter area, you will prevent a lot of glare. There's a DIY on this board somewhere, but I don't have the link. It requires fiberglassing, if your comfortable with that. Otherwise your SOL with the glare, and so is everyone else who owns a 7thgen on this board.

I have an Alpine 9851. I have the deck mounted in the top din slot because I wanted to keep the factory bin with the door and YES glare is a problem about 40% of the time in sunlight. It matches the 04 sedan dash blue not bad. The four buttons on the HU are still wayyyy too bright at night though, they could be half as bright.
The only way I think you will get around the glare would be to find a unit that would give you inverted text.... lit background, dark text like the factory unit, I never had a glare problem with it.
