TSI Turbo Kit For $1,800 Yes Or No?
Here is the link 2 the site the kid bought it from http://www.procivic.com/pages-produc...turbo-kit.html he spent $2,800 he had it for about a week and he ran it on 8psi and blew a hole in his block cuz he ran to much psi w/o enought fuel.. he is tryin 2 sell the his kit for around $1,800 should i do this or no? tell me what u all think about this and the kit its self.. thxx
id say no...I had the tsi kit, i never installed and then sold it off. My view on the whole forced induction is why spend 1800 dollars to get a little closer to 200 hp, not to the wheels btw. In the end, youll be spending a lot more then 1800 dollars and youll find yourself in the same situation as the kid youre thinkin about buying it from. I say no, but I was tempted also, and i went for it. However, after talking to a lot of people on this forum, i was pretty convinced that the turbo was going to be a headache. Search tsi, youll see posts about the problems with fitting of the tsi kit, and a lot of haters of the tsi kit. If you really want to go turbo, check out dezods custom kit if he still has it for sale, he knows what hes doin. But dont think for one second that 1800 flat is goin to be what youll be paying for a complete turbo kit, cause it will be much more down the line, maintenence, repair, etc.....Good luck
To be honest just save your money and go dezod. If dezod had been around when i bought my kit i would have waiting and done it with him. He is all about the d17 so you expect the kit to have better components. And yes dezods kit is expensive but there is no cheap way to go fast. When you do the turbo just do it right the first time and don't worry again.

At first i would have jumped on it (atleast would've considered it throughly) but from what jBrown59 had said, It opened up my eyes. Why waste 1800 on a turbo and have to spend 800 or so on a fuel management system to get to roughly 200hp? i know our d17s aren't much to work with and if so we'd spend craploads of $$$ to get'em just to where we want it, but even if we did i don't even think that would even be on the same level as getting a k20a? why don't you just save about 2200 more and look for a k20a swap? I know it sounds like alot of money, but with a k20a you'd have more options and plus its a six speed
i dunno...just my 2 cents

If you want to stay modest with your goals, then $1800 for a almost new kit is a very good deal. You'll get a nice little fun car to drive!
TSI kits are not so hard to install, no emanage = no headaches, 8psi ~ 170whp.
I'm not giving you "hearsay evidence", my info is firsthand.
I bought TSI kit last summer, it took me about 1 week to install (I have a job and family), no problems after ~15000mi, just oil chages.
I'm reading these boards for couple of years now and I dont recall anyone saying firshand that they blew motor with a TSI kit (I'm not talking headgasket).
Sectert of TSI reliability is a TSI fuel system. Everybody hates it, except TSI users - who love it.
I feel confident in driving my car any distance and any place I need to go.

u forgot about me. thats messed up.
tsi kit with no fuel system =$1,800 + emanage and dezod PnP hareness = $300(i found a good deal) + rsx-s injectors(used)= $100 and the total = $2,200 for about 200whp ok ok ok... maybe 185whp
vs
dezod v3 with no fuel, and management system = $3,200
about 1g difference your choice

TSI fule system is simple to use and tune with.
Only drawback - you cant adjust timing.
From what I understand from reading FI forum 7th gen ECU adjust timing automaticaly.
Again, TSI fuel system is a basic, simple and reliable fuel system for 10-12 psi (as per other members) with t25 turbo.
I currently run 8-9psi daily for the last 6 months or so.
Yes, you can buy this kit new if you need to.

Yes, all new cars sold in Canada after 1991 have to have DRL.

That's what I'm talking about exturbo6. There's a guy on one of the hondatech sites that has an ITR fully built putting down 230whp N/A can you imagine that. I think you can find some videos on like youtube. But anyway I know our cars would never be able to do that but I think even an EX would be hella fun even reving to 8K with internals, but thats me. Good luck in w/e you do man and let me know if you ever wanna meet up.

Well in a private convo with exturbo6 he said the dezod kit was the best way to go but thats alot of money up front. I personally would go TSI just for the experience of learning about turbos and you can always add things here and there to make it complete and get what you're looking for. Everyone hates on the kit but after I hear acura EL 1.7 talking about it I think if your patient with it and understand the fuel system it will be a good kit for turbo noobs.
