Fuzion HRI - Review
I had seen a few people ask about the Fuzion brand tire in the past. So since I picked up a set, thought I would write a little review.
Well the *insert sarcasm here* fabulous Kumho 711's that came with my rims got replaced a few weeks ago. Made it a whole 20k miles, and yes I do rotate (maybe could have made it a few more miles if i wanted to ride them till they were completely treadless). I did some comparison shopping to see what I could get a decent deal on locally. Decided for price and features to go for the Fuzion HRI (size 215/45/17). They are an all season tire with a tread wear rating of 400. I was looking for a performance oriented tire (not looking for a straight up performance tire, I do not "race" but do enjoy a little spirited driving on occasion) with good tread wear and the ability to handle some light Texas winter conditions. On looks alone I don't like them quite as much as the Kumhos, they have a slightly less aggressive tread pattern. Side by side comparison shows that the actual tread width on the Fuzion is a little bit (maybe 1/4") wider than the Kumhos. The ride is great, they are a bit softer and relatively quiet. I attribute the previous statement to the fact that I went from a Z to an H rated tire (BUT lets be serious, do I really need a Z rated tire on a civic for daily driving? I mean H rated is up to 130 & I'm lucky to make it over 80). Dry traction is at least as good as the Kumhos ever were, and from the little time I had them in the rain wet traction seems better. The rim protection lip on the Fuzion looks to be almost 1 1/2x as wide as the previous tire. Which is good, I try to keep my rims nice (over 2 years and no curb rash at all *WOOT!*) . I picked them up at my local Firestone for a little over $500 out the door. I have to say that my overall impression of the tire is very positive (pretty much exactly what I was looking for feature wise) and would recommend them to anyone looking for a relatively low priced, performance~ish tire, with good tread life.

I agree that a few years ago Firestone may have had a problem with some of their SUV tires. BUT, Bridgestone/Firestone are all trash? I guess everyone is entitled to their opnion. However since Bridgestone will be the sole tire supplier for F1 in 2008+, I doubt they are all trash as you say. As far as grip, well of course an H rated All-Season tire is not going to have the grip of a summer specific Z rated. For every day driving the grip is more than adequate. Even for spirinted driving with the D17 I have yet to have any traction issues (maybe if I was running 200+hp & light wheels, but whatever). So thanks for your .02 , but I think for your provided reasons it should be taken with a grain of salt.
