Adding tweeters to non-component system?
Is this possible to do? I see that some places sell tweeters separately. I wanna buy some EX sail panels and mod the tweeters to fit inside there.
Im lookin to get some infinity tweeters and I did some searching and found that with some slight modding to the sail panels they will fit. My question is...is it possible to do this to a non-component system?
Right now....i have stock 6x9s and infinity 6002i in the doors.
Im pretty sure I need to crossovers, right? I see these bass blockers, are those necessary? Thanks

yes you will need a crossover i belive u can buy those seperate too... bass blocker i dont think so becuase the crossover will filter it out for you i bleive so anyone correct me if im wrong.
Yeah, you can add tweeters to your current setup. Just make sure you wire the front channel speakers in series with the tweeters. Those bass blockers should work too, it is pretty much just a crossover.

it's going to sound too bright. the 6002i's have an integrated tweet. Id sell them and get the component system instead. those include the woofer with a seperate tweeter and a matched crossover. it will sound better if the equipment you use is engineered to work together.

i did exactly what you're planning. i have 6.5 infinity 2 way in the doors and separate tweeters in the sail panel. i just did a surface mount on my sedan. looks great, sounds awesome. I have them wired to deck power and they are pointed inward. The 4 speakers are running off the 4 channel amp and the front door speaker tweeters are turned to the floor. sounds perfect imo.
Very easy. just make sure the tweeters you buy come with a crossover. You won't need a bassblocker if it comes with a crossover. and just wire them in and you've just made your own component
