Misfire with cam and how do i clean pluggs?
ok i know there are like a thousand guys out there with misfire prblems and everyone seems to be different including mine. i read the other post about the misfires(the ones i found) but non seem to be specific to my problem.
back when i turboed my car it misfired but i solved the problem with a o2 simulator and new pluggs. well now that i have the comp cam in the thing misfires all the time! what could it be? gasket, pluggs, other. i have checked the coil packs and am about to pull the pluggs. i am using BKR7E (if i remeber right). if it is the pluggs how do i need to clean them or should i just replace. obd2 says misfires1,2,3,4 and random misfire. uggghhh
the car has been retuned and still does it.

Same problem!!!
I misfire on all 4 cylinders too.
Never fixed the problem. I can’t diagnose it.
I’m n/a though witha stock cam. It misfires when I start her up, and when I let off the throttle.
I through I think a P0301-4 code...

What leads you to think that?
my .2 is
I think I have a bad cat...
but that's just my new theory.

take out the sensor (leave it connected to the harness) and move it outside the engine bay. see if it goes away. if you have turbo, the only plugs you should be using are copper (ngk v-power is good), and changing every 3k miles.

3k seems like a bit much for plugg changes and other guys are running this plugg as well.if it does not clear up, i will try this. i already thought of taking the IAT out of the pipe but i will have to get a new one since this one was made to be a perminate part of the pipe (it kept leaking boost out of it b/c the plastic was not hard enough to hold up under the psi i was running).
what heat, part # are the pluggs u recomend
have u plugged yours in to a OBD2 to see? it should read another code for exhaust issues.
the reason i think that is because it started when i put the sensor back in.
^^^^oh i see, u mentioned the code.well just look it up and u should see exactly what that code means.

yep I own a code reader. & the book with all the codes.
its a P0301,0302,0303,0304 & the random cylinder misfire on all 4 cylinders.
no other codes. I too have taken out my IAT when I replaced my intake.

well the iat is really hard to break, even if you drop and step on it i bet it would still work. and the iat does not contribute much to the a/f ratio. thats mostly the 02 sensor's job.

well the iat does, to a small extent. you dont have a cheap a/f gauge (non-wideband) do you? that thing really screws you over. not only ruining the 02 sensor, but the ecu will read the wrong voltage from it because of the gauge drawing on it.

because he has a turbo motor. depending on how he drives, I'd rather him have newer plugs in there than worn out ones. And for $2 each why not.

well what were the psi values per cylinder? im just thinking of things that can cause a misfire. defective or worn plugs, coolant in combustion chamber, clogged injectors, faulty coil packs, and more. i would start one at a time and get some cheap copper ngk plugs and throw em in. then move on and treat fuel system with lubecontrol.com stuff, and test the coil packs.

The pluggs i am switching to cost about $50 for four (ik20's). i wouldnt want to put $2 pluggs in a engine i spent 4k on. but i will switch them out and see if that might be a problem. i have bee using bkr7e'sbut i think it might be time to freshin them up.
the reason i think the IAT sensor might be throwing it off is because it never misfired before i reinstalled it.
do u think a vacum leak might cause a misfire. i dont think it would but i figured i might throw that out there. also i have the comp cam but it has since been retuined. i dont know, i will keep trying diffrent things until i fix it. thanks for the help.

Those plugs are a huge waste of money and wont help fix your problem. Ngk's are excellent plugs and i'd continue using them. If they work in 11-12 second turbo dsm's with a lot of money invested in them, i see no reason not to trust them in your civic. It's entirely possible youre misfiring because of the plugs heat range. I'd go back to stock range 6, and see what happens then. What are your plugs gapped at?
