Need help with buying new car: 8thgen coupe or Sicon TC!!
My sister going to purchase a new car on july 4. She likes the 8th gen coupe with navigation. Which it cost around $21,500 + tax (too much for a civic i think). She also like the scion TC. So I need u guys help me to decide which car to buy? Pros and Cons about these 2 cars. I will be really appreciated ur help!
Whooo, finally a tC post. Been a while since my last post but yeah. IMO, i'd suggest her to get the tC. The 8th gen VIC (Si or EX) are really expensive for those types of options on a car. But if it's a free car from mommy or daddy then why the hell not! Tell ur SIS to get the VIC, especially with the OEM LIP kit, looks pretty hot. Some pros and cons i can give you about both (I just helped my Fiance get a tC):
VIC:
* Reputation - Honda's always been around for quite some time, whereas Scion just came up (even though it's a part of Toyota)
* Gas Mileage - 30/40 (Automatic) compared to the tC's 23/31 for the tC
* Interior - IMO, i think the VIC has a larger interior than the tC (after sitting in the rear of both cars from test drives, the interior is larger in the VIC 2 dr)
* Safety - The EX comes standard with great safety features, compared to the tC (you have to pay extra for Side Air Curtain)
* Navigation - if your sisters getting it for free and willing to pay around 22, you can get the NAVI
tC:
* Pure Price - You can think of this as a CON or as a PRO but all Toyota Scion Dealerships are suppose to sell you at a price that's market value. Meaning no HAGGLE no NEGOTIATIONS no BUTS. IMO you can save urself a lot of money if you just get the basic tC (16,940 compared to the EX automatic of 19xxx)
* New and Hip? - A lot of young female drivers are driving this car, IMO i think it's a chick car
* Hatchback and 60/40 split rear seats - Because it's a hatch and the rear seats fold all the way down it sorta turns into a bed! With the tC i've managed to fit a Staples computer Desk and a 30 inch. (the VIC has 60/40 but dunno, didn't get it to try to fit a desk or a tv)
* Navigation - It's easliy customizable, since the stock headunit is double din, we're in the market and close to purchasing the Eclipse AVN-5435 for the car (all in one Navi) for around 2000, that's 16,710 plus 2000 (base price plus the navi) compared to the VIC's 22xxx price.
I'm assuming your sister isn't really into the engine and the major performance specs, but the tC's VVT-i engine produces 161 HP at 5700 RPM whereas the VIC goes 140 @ 6300.
In conclusion, i'd hate to say it but tell her to go with the tC if she really wants a nice car. Compared to the VIC models, you can't really but a car under 17K with the features the tC has. The base stock model (17 inch rims, mp3 player, streering controls, sun and moon roof, pionner sound! geez soo much more. But i was a little hesitant on getting the tC cuz i wanted to start of with the cheapest car and try to haggle the price, which was the DX trim. YOu can always negotiate with honda and they'll budge someway or the other (or go to a FLEET dealership). But after much comparison and whinning from the wifey, we ended up getting the tC for it's looks and features. Overall she's really happy with the car and im satisfied. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys, Im going to take her to Scion dealer ship today for a test drive. Hopefully she will consisder buying the TC! Another thing is it so HARD to find a 8thgen coupe "white" with navi. We have been at 5 dealers and still havent seen one
. I think a white TC with TRD lip kit and TRD lowering spring will look soo hot!

My sis just bought an 07 tC yesterday. Im glad she get the tC over the 8thgen civic
. The tC ride way way better than the 8thgen anyway. She felt in love right away after she test drove the tC. She test drove the civic before and say it slow!
