MidBass Drivers

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good dedicated midbass driver (6.5" for door install). I actually gathered suggestions about a year and a half ago, but since then products have come and gone, and I still don't have midbass drivers. I was looking into a pair of Adire Koda's (6), but Adire doesn't seem to make the Koda in a 6.5" form factor anymore.

Anyway, this is what I've got thus far:

Image Dynamics
CX62
CX64

MB Quart
QSD 164
QSC 164
PCE 164

Alpine
SPX 17MB

Mpyre Audio
65M

I'm also looking into Helix/Brax, however I haven't looked too much into their midbass drivers yet (and Brax is extremely expensive).

Any other suggestions? Anything that will fit in the door without modification?

edit: as for my budget - it's variable, however I would like to keep it under $250 for the speaker pair

Thanks

The QSD-164 looks like the best bet to me. The Alpine Type X's cost $330 so that's over your budget. Maybe check out the Alpine Type R's.

Why not get component speakers?

I'll be amping the drivers, and I already have two components in kick panels. They're DLS MS5's and the 5.25 midrange in the kick panel doesn't produce much midbass, so I'm looking to turn it into a 3-way system.

Anyway- I've been looking through the specs of some of these drivers, and the Image Dynamics and Mpyre drivers are probably too deep for a door install anyway - both are over 3" deep. Though my installer could probably make them fit with some cutting, I would rather get something that might only need a spacer.

The Alpines are 2.8" deep and the Quarts are only 2.5", so either will probably fit easily with a spacer; the quarts would probably fit best.

As of right now it seems to be between the MB Quart line of drivers, the Alpine kit (despite the price), and some offerings from some from my local shops. One of the shops is a CDT dealer so they could get me a good deal on CDTs, though I don't know much about their product line.

Have you looked at Seas, Peerless and the new 4ohm Reference Series Dayton drivers?

More to the point, have you looked here :DIYMA?
