just a short shifter question

i heard that you can go buy a aftermarket shifter **** and then take your stock shifter and cut it and use the new shift **** you just bought and put it on, and the little set screws will hold it in place.

Yeah....You could if you really wanted to. I have my aftermarket **** on the threaded part of the stock shifter. They do come with little plastic caps that go over the shaft and serve a dual purpose; to protect any threads and also to give the screws something to grip into.

That is how mine is held in place but I didnt cut the shifter. It didnt have threads on it like the stock on and it came with these rubber boots that fit over the shifter and let the **** fit on tight. Then you just tighten down those screws and you are good. Some of the vibrations loosened the screws after about a week so I put some lock tite on it and its good now.

It works. I've had two aftermarket ***** on my car from different companies and both of them worked. The key is to get the plastic cap to fit as tight over the shaft as possible. What I did was Dremel out the center of one of the caps that came with the **** so that it was just barely big enough to fit over the shaft. Enough so that with a couple taps from a rubber mallet it would go on.

this method will work with any universal fit shift *****. And it may have a similar effect as Revo or B&M and such..... but not quite.
