Honda Civic Sport Steering Problem

My '54 honda only has 6500 miles the steering goes tight sometimes. at first it was pulling to left too. Took it back to honda and they said nothing wrong changed tyres over and said might solve problem, didn't .
2nd time said needed wheel alignment. it was out, but not by much, and it did stop the car pulling to the side but not the underlying problem which is the tighening of the steering. You have to hold tight onto the wheel to keep it in a straight line. Anyone got any suggestion as to the cause so I can't be fobbed off when i go back to honda again.
I have checked tyre pressure. 32 at front 30 at rear as advised by garage. Tyres full tread. Never been in an accident according to HPI check. I got it with 3600 miles on clock at 1 year old. Bought it from Honda dealer.
my k reg honda drives like a dream still
