16k km service maintenance

Hi,

My dealership says I need to do a service maintenance since i have 16k km on my car now. They will lubricate the brakes, locks, change oil and etc. Total is about $170 CAD. Do you think it is necessary to do that service or should I just change the oil?

Not worth it, you can do all of it yourself. I you want to keep a record of oil change at the dealer for warrenty claims, just change the oil there. If not I would also change the oil yourself.

lubricate the brakes? locks? i have 95,000mi on my '03 and ive never done either.. i dont even know how youd go about lubricating the brakes unless you lubricate the glide pins.. which would be stupid to do at 16k km.

in your shoes, id just change the oil.

i don't know what they are going to lubricate there but that's what they have told me. Now I am no mechanic but that price just seem outrageous to me. I guess I ll just change the oil, they have to do it for free for the first two years anyways
