Giving Up K20 Project
For a while iv been hoping i could get a k20a or a2....i got a job soley for this project. After 2 weeks with a sh!tty job (burger king) i was getting payed crap! 6.75 O_O. I got a total of 242 for 2 weeks of work. Thats nothing when your goal is 6000+. I was doing some searching and went back to my old days when i was still looking for a car. 240sx jumped into mind, cheap to buy 2500 at the most for car 1000 more for all the other needs then i found a sr20det s13 for about 1200 or something around that from naganojapanese.com (they sell lots of JDM Engines at fair prices). I quit BK and im going for a job interview at the shop that fixed my car when i got into a accident (pics in my view pics). If any one has any objections to this just feel free to leave some feedback. I would have loved to make my Civic a k20 beast but the price is just to much. And i was leaning towards becoming drifter it looks like fun and i can still race a 240 on a drag. i guess if i dont go for k20 ill be using the civic to go get the 240s toys

yea 6.75 aint gunna cut it to fund a project like that. trust me even making more than double that with bills its still hard to fund projects.
A project like should take months even years.
Car modifying is a life style and is a never ending proccess with the civic or any other car.
You almost have to have a second car to drive while the other is worked on with out rushing.
IS PART OF THE FUN!

can't forget the fact that it probably won't end w/ the swap either...
i got a nice promotion where i can make enough in a few months of saving for boost and such. but i bought a house, and got engaged... no boost for at least another year

poor civic Anything you buy will require maintenance, esp. frankenswapped cars and older cars, something always breaks and unless you can do all your own labour you're going to be paying through the nose long term...
good luck dude... i was in your shoes at one point.. now i have to much k20 parts laying around plus a bare type s block and a complete si block lying around.. its funny how things turned around for the better.. just keep it up

i'm not doing anything else except maintenance and shocks. i'll drive the car til it dies and hopefully by then i'll have enough saved for a downpayment on a better car. I love the civic but its not really fun to drive sometimes (slow)
I'll flip out and kill people.

i think you will find it much more expensive and painstaking to work on a 240 that costs 2500-3000. you're talking about a car that will likely need new brakes, fuel lines, engine, tranny, suspension, electrical (yikes), weatherstripping even, etc etc. like someone else said, it will take months, even years, to get a project through major evolutions like a swap, but keep in mind, fixing up any car is not cheap, but some are cheaper than others.

and think about being the underdog in the little civic that could, and handing someone their *** when they least suspect it! now if that isn't satisfaction, i dunno what is.
You need a heck of a lot more income than BK to get to work on a swap or boost project!!
As many times as modding my civic might have come into my head, the thoughts were quickly replaced with more logical thinking.
Spend 5k for basic turbo setup.. nah, trade in my car for a Si or RSX-S. Better everything, lower maintenance. same power.
Spend 15-20k for real build + boost?.. nah, trade in my car and get a 350z. Thats what I'm talkin about! Not as much power perhaps, but style, and extremely good handling are big bonuses. The handling especially.
Econoboxes are meant to be slow. Ofcourse, a John Deere tractor can run 13's if you've got enough money.. so can anything else, but sometimes it just isn't worth it.
