Mine is 75% 3/4 MDF and 25% fiberglass. It still weighs enough to make the car sit damn near even with Eibachs in the front and stock springs in the rear.
once the glue dries, you can always pull out the screws around the edges and put a small roundover on the edging to break the edge a little. With some thick carpet, itll look and feel sharp. Not to mention professionally upholstered.
as long as you dont make it look like an insane assylum's walls, I dont think a little padding will look bad, though. If I had to spend a little extra money though, I'd be buying extra thick carpet, rather than thin carpet and thin padding.
