If it were me, I'd cut out a square where your sub mounts. Recess in some white acrylic that's semi-transparent and drill in some high MCD LED's from the sides and light it up any color you want.

Good call on going with something more "simple". In the end, it looks more oem and classy than anything with LED's or plexiglass ever could.

if you use the plexi glass grille, rather than getting ugly frosted,,, use a router to cut out a symbole like JL or sumthin (i forgot what brands your using) and use a triangle bit so you see the cut, then the lights will show ONLY through the cuts and with the lights off, you will only see the symbol "floating" in front of the grille.
this is waht im gonna do

w6v2's are very nice sounding subs.. i have them too with the same amp.. still thinking how i should or if i should even custom them in my trunk. whenever i decide what i am going to do with my system ill post some pics of it too. but one is never enough. ill try to get my beat in soon. wanna have bass competition? =] nahh i probably wont get my stuff in any time soon.. trying to upgrade my alternator first =]
It's back and looking better everytime. I think the JL symble lit up would look good...give a little more balance to since the sub is in the middle and only one amp on the side. Can't wait to see it finished.

I assume he is going to mask off his entire side panel (or mostly), including the floor, and around the battery itself.
the foam will just be a structure to lay strips of fiberglass over so the glass has a nice shape to hold while it cures. To be totally removed later.
I assume the goal will not be to raise the floor, but to make a more vertical cover for the battery

If you don't add a layer of kittyhair before you take the initial mold out (for the first time ever!) I have found its possible to leave yourself open to panel warpage.
ever build a fiberglass shell just to finish it, make it beautiful, and then it doesnt fit back in the car properly?
probably something you already know.

lol yeah i know what you mean.. some fiberglass resins shrink and all kinds of fun stuff. But i think i have a good plan in place..now i just got to impliment it, lo-jack and my coulpe of problems coming home has just taken priority this week.
id take a small sheet of plexiglass over the JL symbol and just cover it with the carpet keeping the symbol showing of course, take a small LED strip that can pulse to the bass and put under it, but thats just my thought
a machine shop can beadblast the plexi on one side, giving a nice frost look.
you can very nearly place a light anywhere behind it (always test!) and itll look alright.
other option is to buy colored plexiglass so you dont even have to worry about frosting or being able to see through it.
Another option I would also consider is not even lighting it up. subtle, and sweet.

it seems your good with trunks, would you mind help designing mine, it will have 2 re 8s in sealed boxes, 2 diamond d3400.4 amps, and a set of d361 components inside it, i was going to flush everything then place a layer of bead blasted plexiglass on top with a lifting mechanism so it will lift out of the way to show the subs amps and speakers, might mount some lights on the underside of the glass so it will light everything up when lifted and look like blue frosted glass when closed
