And there's no variable timing
I think its all one way plugs, so if there's unused plugs on the harness and no mating harness near it on the motor, then its most likely unused. You won't know until you fire it up and see what CELs it throws.

Well now you have the reverse problem... you don't have too many wires, you have not enough in the harness.
You'll need to get those all hooked up for it to run right.

Still a little lost on this. lets see if i can clear this up.
I have an 03 lx (non v-tec civic). I swaped that engine out with a 05 ex with v-tech. I kept my same trany. All i did was change the engine. It came with the wire harness attached. I connected all that i could. there are no more place to hook up any thing, but there are still like 5 wires that dont go to any thing. whats up with that?

the highly unusual....
heres is how i see it..
1.. if you are using the original engine harness from YOUR car you should end up with NOT HAVING ENOUGH wires cause the vtec and pressure sensor and what not.
2... now if you are using the ORIGINAL engine harness from the EX(vtec) that it came put of then you should have all wires and plugs plugged in.. if there is some hanging you missed something somewhere.... and dont ask us where it goes cause we cant tell you unless we physically look at your engine.......
Other than that there is no logical explanation of what you did wrong...
PS.... i hope u have a way of engaging vtec?
