Question Keyless Entry or Not?

Just purchased an 02 Civic LX. Is there any way to tell if this car has keyless entry without buying the remote and trying to program it. I called the dealer with the vin# and they said they couldn't tell with the vin#. Help?

Well, my original thought process would be as follows: If you don't know if you have keyless entry, then you don't. I would Imagine that you would have received the the remote at the time you purchased the car. In order to have keyless, you need a security system. If you already have a security system, you should be able to upgrade to the keyless. Or, if you have power locks but no security, then you can get just keyless if you wanted to. but I would imagine it's worth the investment just to wait and get the security and the keyless at the same time.

What you can do is pull out the bit of trim that has your "Acessory" socket and Fog Light button on it. It might be an ashtray and lighter in your car, depends on model? It is held in with clips, it is safe to yank on it and pull straight out. There is wiring that is attached to the light switch and acessory socket so don't pull too hard you might tear the wiring. With a flashlight if you peer into the upper right corner of the inside of the car you just uncovered you will see a small black box with a large white label... It has an FCC ID on it and alot of other info. If you have this box you have keyless entry.
