Why won't these work on my 2004??

I found a great deal on Springs / Shocks / Struts all in one package but its for 01 - 02. Why won't it fit for the 04 - 05?

Does it invovle the 55mm / 50 mm difference I've been reading about? I believe that involves the base of the front shocks (not sure).

I'm considering lowering my car along with getting the wheels so I'm trying to find a reasonably priced set of springs / shocks / struts, suggestions accepted, I would prefer a 1.5" drop.

Thanks,

John

you can have a shop drill them out to 55 from 50. It should be ok.

But is that the MAIN reason why? I am trying to gauge complete costs of doing this. I may do this before I buy my wheels.

50 - 55 is the size of the strut body, and cannot be drilled out. This is important if you are buying konis becuase they are inserts. If you are getting tokicos or kybs (or konis in a premodded 01 strut body) all you would need to do is drill the knuckle bolts (on the front) from 14 to 16 mm.

that is the only thing needed to be done. just buy a step drill bit that has a 16mm step or a 5/8" step and drill the knuckle bolts out. If you have a costco membership, they have a set of 3 step drill bits for 13.99. much better deal than the home depot or lowe's.

also, the dremel sanding wheels, the bigger ones, are exactly 16mm round. my step drill bit broke mid process, so we just dremeled the rest out, it was a perfect 16mm.

i did my struts with a 5/8" masonry drill bit at 10 bucks at home depot than i drilled it out test fitting the hole with one of my strut bolts until it fit perfectly...after that it was fine no other problems and its a nice *** suspension right now

a masonry drill bit and a large highimpact hammer drill (not in hammer mode) helped...i just got a drill for like $65 from home depot a really heavy duty one and use it and returned the drill...but the drill bit got too chewed up to return so i kept it...its still good for drilling struts and stuff its just the coating is rubbed off like mad

Also, for the 04-05, how do I know whether to get 50mm or 55mm??

NEVERMIND, I just found out. 55mm fitment.

Can anyone show me a picture of the "knuckle bolts" of the front shocks that MUST be "drilled wider"?

I am assuming then that 01-05 had the same Strut design then, so no mods required.

Here is the kit I am watching on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Is the Tokico fitment already at 55 mm? NO AUCTIONs have explained this yet

Its either these or Sportlines + Tokicos (I've had them on my last car, and was VERY pleased with performance)

those ones in particular are going to be 50mm. however, it doesn't matter, thats just how fat around the shock bodies are. i ran some 50mm konis on my 04, all i had to do was drill the knuckle bolts out to 16mm. so yes, those will work for you.

I think I'll be picking up this kit then after all.

Thanks for the helpful advice everyone. I'm bookmarking this page for future reference
