A Blow Off valve blow's off extra air. The extra air, is that, that would be too much to enter the engine. (prevents too much air from entering the engine)

You have no need for a blow off valve unless you're going turbo.
It basically keeps the turbo spinning when you let go of the throttle or slowing down. Without a BOV, the air would crash into the throttle plate and have no place to go. Eventually, air would pile up behind it until it is backed up into the turbo, causing it to stop. When you hit the gas again, you'd have to wait for the turbo to spin again. This is what makes loud "pssssshhhhhhhhhh" you hear on turbo cars when they change gears.
