Interior power wire.

I am just starting to get into getting mods for my car.

Car: 2001 civic EX Automatic

I bought a two pack of neon lights from street glow.

The neon pack came with 2 9" tubes, which plug into some deal ( forget what its called ), which then plugs into the cigerette lighter. On the box, it showed which wires coming off of the box are positive and negative, but not which coming out of the tubes are positive in negative, i am wanting to wire each neon to a differnt switch, so is their any way to tell which wire is which? one is black and one is white. Once i know that much, i think i have an idea of what to do, but am still confused on a few things.

#1: What is the easiest power wire, and ground spot to get to from the interrior ( that the switch and neon will be wired to )
#2: How would i get to it...
#3: What is the easiest way [ preferably not saudering ] to get the switch wired to that power?
#4: is a fuse needed to do this, or is it safe?
#5: whats the best place to buy anything extra i need? i already have a switch, and some extra wire...

sorry i dont know much, so its kinda hard to explain what i want to do. thanks for ur help in advance
if u dont understand what im trying to ask, let me know and ill try to re word it.

i put two of those 9" neon blubs inside my car, and what i did was use the wire that is used for the cigerrate addapter.
u can attach it any way u like, but thats a good wire to use, cause it has the fuse already, and supplies a good amount of power

peace out

thx, but not what i was looking for, i guess i made myself a bit unclear. I am mainly trying to figure out which Wire ( or if i can somehow get it to, and wire it into the battery without cutting any wires ) in the car that i should wire the Switch into. And how to go about wiring it into that wire ( as in how do i get to the wire, and then what to use to attatch the wires; and where to get it, etc. ). And if a fuse would be something i would need to wire into it also.

The whole neon thing was just stating what i am trying to install, and i would rather not use the wire the cigerette adapter, because i would like to know how to make my own fuze for future installs, and have each neon tube on a seperate switch.

Hope that makes my question a bit more clear.

ohhh sorry bout that

alright

i dunno which wire you could use, haven't really looked

Existing Power Wire: Using an exacto knife, carefully shave about half an inch of the plastic off the wire, so you can see half an inch of bare wire

Power Wire you want to attach: Using wire snippers cut off about half an inch of the plasitc off the wire, so you can se half an inch of bare wire

Joining Them: Either sauder them together(which would be best) and cover them with electrical tape, so they dont get damaged.

OR

Wind the new wire over the existing wire(the new wire will be like a corkscrew around the existing wire) and them tape them together using electrical tape

Thats how you join the wires together, DONT USE THOSE CHEAP PLASTIC CLIP-ON THINGS, THEY SUCK, AND USUALLY FALL OFF

and for the fuse, im not exactly sure what amperage you would need, but all you have to do is cut the wire in half, strip the plastic half an inch off(like the other wire) and place in between

hopefully i helped you out this time

if you don't mind having the neon on only while the car is ON or the key is on ACC then just tap the positive off from the back of the cigarette lighter. The reason for this is because this is the easiest place to get power...pull out the plastic (where cig lighter is connected) and work your way from there
