Weight Reduction
Weight Reduction
This is not a question about weight reduction. I just want to share what I've gained from it. I recently reduced the weight of my car by probably about 100 lbs off stock weight. This has been the single best thing I have done to my car to make it faster. Yea, 100 lbs doesn't seem like much, but it has made the biggest difference out of anything I have done to my car. I ripped out almost everything in the back and the trunk. And I still have more I can take out. So those of you who dont use the backseats and have been thinking about this, I would do it. Especially before going to the track. And it takes like 20 mins to take most of the stuff out.

yup yup, every pound counts.....
think you could do some sort of list to show what all you removed for your weight reduction?
oh, AND if youre going to the track, an obvious, but not so obvious weight reduction tip is run on 1/4-1/2 a tank as apposed to a full tank.

Dry ice is really the only easy way to do it. soak it in DI and go at it with an air chisel. You can get dry ice at more places than you think. University chem labs always have it. Butcher shops may too. If not, yellowpages.com dry ice and you should come up with something.
i'd like to see pics of how to remove the backseat and stuff. i would do this but personally i think it would look kind of tacky.

also 100 pounds making that much of a difference explains why i beat my friend's civic.
he had full bolt ons and thought he was gonna pull so hard cause my car was completely stock but he forgot he weighs over 100 pounds more than i do and had 2 tens in the back.

I love when fat people talk about weight reduction, and strip their interiors.
Buddy, leave the 1/2 lb of interior moulding, and get your fat *** to the gym!
*I'm not implying anyone here - but really... there's a reason Horse Jockeys tend to be small!

A hundred lbs? Maybe if you took the spare tire out, but not just the back seat and stuff. I took out my front passenger seat, back seat, center council, and the wood and carpet in the back; left nothing but my spare and a scissor jack (didn't want to get caught without it on the road). I even switched out my heavy-as-hell driver seat for a lightweight Tenzo for about half the weight.
But back to this, the seat alone probably weighed about 30 lbs... probably a little less. The rest maybe 20-30 tops giving a total of about 60 lbs and that's probably pushing it, plus I installed my lighter driver seat. So I don't know where you got 100 lbs shaved off with even the spare because it only weighs like 10-15 lbs. How about a list of everything you took off because I'm probably missing some stuff. Please list because I'd like some new ideas for this summer.
Just to add to weight reduction stories, I beat my buddies G2 Teg LS with I/H/E and me having only my intake (133 hp vs. 109 hp). He knew how to shift right and all so I don't think it was driver error.
