need Help installing AEM Air Bypass.....
Hi i'm a new member of this place. I just bought my Civic and i just put a AEM Intake on it. BUt i need help with it.
I Need help on step 4. I dont understand what it means by Push in on each diaphragm flap of the valve. Make sure that the flap does not contact the inlet pipe or the black rubber insert inside the valve. If any of the flaps contact any part of the pipe or rubber inser then readjust the valve as nesessary to prevent contact. And i have a 2 part intake for my civic 2002 where should i put the valve on the part that is on the engine or the part that has the air filter. Please help

First of all, welcome to the soap opera and secondly, I never did that step when I put my bypass valve in but I live in WA where it rains all the time and have had no problems yet! Good luck!
or you can do this.
you know the rubber part that connects the two tubes?
well. you can replace that with your valve if you dont want to cut your upper pipe.
ived seen another person who did this and i might do this also when the rains starts pouring here.
goodluck.

This just means to make sure that the valve opens all the way without being restricted by either the pipe being partially behind it or by binding on itself.

I dont own this product, but i would agree with GrassPnoy, just replace the rubber joint with the valve if its possible. But I would tend to think that you would want to keep it fairly high to keep water out if you chose to cut your pipe.
OK Silver,
I'm sure I have your answer ... take a look at the image I attached. In this photo of the AEM bypass valve you can see the diaphram exposed. The foam filter cover has been peeled back, but DON'T do this on your valve. I just want to illustrate it for you.
When you insert the 2 pipe sections into each side of the bypass (do one at a time), make sure that you cannot feel the pipe obstructing the orange diaphram rubber. Gently place your finger over the oval holes and feel to see that the pipe is not directly behind this, otherwise the orange diaphram cannot open enough to allow air in. Check it all around on each oval hole. If you feel metal or hard rubber directly behind these ovals, slide the pipe back out of the valve a bit for clearance.
In regard to "where" you should mount this bypass, I do believe the instructions say... "try to position the Bypass Valve as high as possible on the pipe." This should be on a straight section of the pipe (See section 1, line III & IV of your instructions.) Photo 1 shows 2 possible locations for the bypass.
I hope this helps out. Good luck.
