So, I found myself riding in a Ruf 993 today...
Today was slow at Volkswagen and one of the sales advisors asked me if I'd deliver a touareg to a customer and he'd bring me back in his "porsche":ugh2: So, I decided I would. I get to the guys house and he says he's going to get "the machine" out and take me back. So, I'm sitting here thinking he's gonna pull out the 944 and bring me back with the top down
So, he opens the garage and I'm stunned to see this...(this might be the actual car in the pics. I got them from a site, but he did recently buy the car)

I tried to act unimpressed as he started it up and I heard it loping as it warmed up. He tells me it's a Ruf 993. I guess Ruf bought them from Porsche without vin numbers and Vin'd them as Ruf's(along with the built race motor, race suspension, and amazing bodywork). As you can see, the thing has an incredible wide body kit on it and was tucking 335s in the back on some wicked wheels.
I squeezed in the car and we got headed back to the dealership. I ask him the usual how fast is it, 0-60, and such. He told me it put down right at 580 at the wheels and 0-60 was 3.0 with top speed of 214mph.
He gives me a little show by romping on it up to 130 getting on the highway. Fastest car I've ridden in so far. The car was a monster and not too loud at all. Definately a refined sound. It was literally a work of art.
So, anyway....
I ask him what he does for a living, seeing as how he drives a very very expensive and desirable car, and he tells me he has his own company. I asked him what company that was. He asks me if I've ever herd of J.D. Power and Associates. Being in the automotive field, of course I've heard of it. He put his hand out to shake and introduced himself as J.D.

his house wasn't too big. Probably 4000 sq/ft and two garages. I only saw in one garage. it was about 2 and a half cars wide and about 6 cars deep. He had his tools, and a Porsche race car tucked in the back.
He has many houses, and this one is just his Phoenix area house.
fastest car i have been in was also a porsche....650hp

here is a quick 20 to 90 run....you can tell it wasnt full throttle for the last few seconds
