opinions/thoughts about custom intake manifold
hey guys whats up
Just wondering what your opinions / thoughts on this custom made manifold for our cars (d17) are.
Do you guys think its well made?
Do you think it will actually add power?
and do you think its better overall than having our crappy plastic intake manifold?
(keep in mind this will be going into a turbo'd car)
thanks

I'm also looking for an intake manifold but I don't think that company makes them anymore. I think it's a lot better than the crappy plastic manifold that comes in our cars. Anyway good luck with it.

As boiler said, it does look bomb prove to me as well. Thats a point.
Runners are shorter means more top end power. Thats a point.
Its square, airflow will loose some speed. Half of a point.
Adds look to the engine bay. Half of a point.
You already have it. Thats point.
--------versus-----
Stock intake mani is plastic. Thats minus.
Longer runners, more low end power & torque. Half of a minus.
No need to install it. Thats plus.
Doesnt add looks to engine bay. Thats minus.
-----end result------
Custom mani: 3.5 points
Stock mani: -1.5 points
Custom is ahead by full 5 points.
Yeah, go ahead and use it.
Dont forget to tell us about your gains

that is the kms manifold. It sucks *** for NA applications. due to lack of velocity at high rpms. IMO it would be better with some port work on where the runners connect with the box. On a boosted car it may work good. pushing air is different than sucking air. been there done that NA
There are a couple of boosted guys using it. I know I sold my mani to one of them.

Im not sure.. Your not the first to say it. The person I bought it from said it was a Custom intake manifold. He never stated it was a kms.. soo I dunno?
but like people said it looks BOMB proof... I hope its functional as well :-p

It's a KMS manifold. I got one sitting in my closet that I never put on, because I decided to do a capice clone instead. Search for some old post about its performance. There's about eight other ones out there cause John stopped at 10 due to complaints about loss-of-power on N/A cars, crappy service, and it being a bitch to install. Bottom line, its a solid piece for the powerminded sporting a turbo. Congrads
thanks... I will probably be posting.. and of course reading (already have been) alot on here... I bought a TSI (t25bb) kit... and will be installing in a couple of weeks, hopefully everything goes smooth.
