i want to paint my bat. tie down, fuse box, valve covers n stuff red. but i dont know wat kind of paint to use.. help a fellow civic owner out

well, I used model paint from my local arts and crafts store. Your battery tie down, fuse box cover, and spark plug cover, are just in a warm area (the engine bay). They aren't (or shouldn't be) touching any very hot parts of the engine because they are only made of plastic. My model paint has been on there for about 2 months and it hasn't peeled or chipped yet. Just find your favorite color paint, remove all the parts you want to paint, and have at it. Before I painted, I sanded each part with a very very fine grit sand paper. You could actually use a brillo pad or something like that to just rough it up a bit. You don't want to rough it up too much because it will show up through the paint and look shitty. Of course, this is all just my $.02

Does anyone know if someone cells the spark plug covers already painted or made of colored plastic. If so, where?

i used high temp paint and everything is good...u can also use brake caliper paint if u want...

i was also trying to find the painted sparkplug covers but i couldnt find them im sure somebody will make them...hopefully

where could i get my japanese hands on the high temp paint? just a regualr paint store?

i used a automotive interior and exterior paint i got from pep boys for like 3 bucks and i went with a clear coat over the base but thats just me i dont know if anyone else put a clear coat and i have had mine on for like a month and no chippin pealin ur crackin
its easy and makes ur egine look good real quick and cheap

Since I work at an Ace Hardware store, I guess I'll throw my $ .02 in this one..

yes HoteK at a regular store, homedepot, ace, truevalue to name a few, typically any hardware store, or crafts aswell.

Mbow.. theres a site if you make a search in this site you'll find it, but in any event to explain a little about it.. its made of Carbon Fiber, not sure if they have different colors since it's been a while since I checked this item, BUT I know they do have them in standard CF color.

Also there is a member that made his own spark plug cover out of some household or hardware material, dont exactly recall. BUT.. i remember alot of other people giving him brownie points for it and even offering him money to make them ther

I wouldnt paint it though, as I haven't, I think it makes your car look cheezy. [my opinion]

i used engine paint. that's what it said on the can. they sell it at any auto parts store. it resists very high temps. or get any paint that says hot paint or high temp paint.

i bought some engine paint from 'Autozon yesterday but i haven't painted anything yet
it's suppose to withstand up to 500 degrees and i dont think my little 4 banger gets that hot

i used like $2.50 auto paint from wallyworld and then put on clear coat... i painted the honda part with my little bro's model paint... no chips or cracking yet, and it looks really nice.

I used pasti-kote. They sell it at pep Boys 1.89 or somethin. Mine has been on for 5 months and still looks perfect.

I used Plasticote as well and that was over a year ago. My friend used callipar paint and that works too, heat won't be an issue on the plastic stuff.

use primer, plasticote, and clear coat and everything will be fine.
