v-afc vs s-afc

what is the difference between a V-AFC and an S-AFC? and also, how exactly do they work, where do they hook up, and how much do they cost? thanks peeps

they both "trick" the stock ecu into giving the car more or less fuel.....

the V in the V-AFC allows you to control the vtec engagement point, and disengagement point, BUT NOT ON OUR ENGINE!

dont waste the money on the V-AFC, go for the S-AFC, and you will have more tuning options for the fuel maps.....

plus they are so damn cool looking!

peace...mark

That is correct about the AFC. As far as the Autometer gauge pod, there is no work
yet from Autometer when they will have the mold for the gauge pods for the 2k1 civic's.

Why don't you get the V-AFC just in case you get a engine swap?

So why can't you control the V-tec on our cars with the V-AFC?
Just wondering....

it might because we have a 3 stage vtec while previous civic had a regular vtec if thats what it was called.

I don't know if we have a 3 or 2 or whatever but I know you can not control the vtec engagement point.

hmmm maybe you cant use it BECAUSE ITS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE D17A2 AS IT IS NOT LISTED ON THE BACK OF THE BOX! The thing was made obviously before the 2k1 was released and is not listed - maybe on a later model but not the VAFC.

You just mount it wherever you want it to go. Make sure whoever installs it knows what there doing since your splicing into the ECU...wouldnt want to fuuck that up.

This is out of my 99 Si with a VAFC

in regards to the guy who said "why not just get the v-afc incase you do a motor swap".....if he has the money to do a motor swap, he will have the money to sell the s-afc and buy a v-afc.....right now it would make much more sense to install something that would provide for more tweaking options in his current car....wouldn't you think? why pay now for somethin you cant use?

peace

what type of gains did you notice with the S-AFC? where they substantial, or not worth it?

I'm not exactly positive about this, but I believe I read on a different thread that you can get like 3-5 hp max with bolt-ons.

The V-AFC will not work for the fact it is not because it is not made for our cars it for the fact that the Stock Chip will not let the user re program the engagment points. This come from one of Apex'i certified tuning shops. If by some chance, you replace your stock chip, then you can set you engagement points yourself. Other wise you are out of luck.
