peacebewithyou...i need the front struts for a 2001 civic lx coupe.
civicduty...i have 46K miles on it and i am the third owner of the car. i thought the warranty was only till 36K miles. please, clarify this issue as it will be great to get the struts replaced for free. I went to a local shop as my ride is horrible on the civic and they said i needed all 4 struts replaced. I confirmed that with 3 other shops as well.

There is a known problem with 01 civics that cause the front struts to leak out. Honda has extended the warranty as "good faith" to change them out. I don't know if there is a limit to the number of owners. My guess would be there isn't a limit on owners because its a factory warranty and not one of those purchased extended warranties.
I would take it to your local Honda dealer or at least phone around. Search this site too because lots of people have had them replaced, myself included. You could be outta luck on the rears though.
Hope this helps.

I called around to 2 dealerships and they both said they have no idea what i'm talking about. they didn't have any recall in the system for this either. could you direct me to a site or forum where it actually says that the civics have this known problem and honda will fix it. as then i can print it and take it to the dealership...thnx
Here's the other thread, http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=97780 , see page 5. I didn't need the TSB to fight for mine but someone else did. Its not a recall because its not considered safety related. You'll have to search, but don't give up.
