Not sure if this goes here but it can be used in a head swap. Ok you buy one of those tachs with built in shift light that you can set when to go on. Ok you say so what here comes the fun part you can wire your vtec solinoid to the shift light since the shift light will act like an activate switch. Meaning just set when you want vtec to engage and boom instant vtec controller. Before you call Bs it does work we used to use it on a gsr swapped 94 hatch before we went with a stand alone system.
I just burnt my tongue

my friend has this setup in his 95 si hatch...its pretty kool..we found it out by accident too trying to see if we can get the light to light up when vtec kicked in than we learned we could control when it did kick in...it was sweet but now he has a VAFC-II

haha have fun destroying your engine. In order the the ecu to activate that solenoid, a number of very important conditions have to be met. turning it on at the wrong time = boom

And I agree with gearbox, messing with the factory vtec points isn't a good idea, even with the vafc-2. Too many conditions have to be factored in.
Once boosted now i-VTEC

I guess I should clarify yes gearbox you are right haveing vtec engage too early is very dangerous for your engine. I would highly advise against engaging vtec before 4500 rpm.
