SF manifold to OBX manifold?

i got a OBX mani off ebay for 50 bucks, and ive heard the bad rep about SSautochrome, so i wasent really expecting much, but the mani came and it looks pretty good (ive seen some pics of the shitty ones)

anyway, my concern is that the OBX mani is gonna relocate the turbo way lower, and im thinking the compressor side might even be hitting the trans? anyone using the obx mani?

if your gonna flame the obx mani save it , if anyone has any thoughts, let me hear em. thanks.

wont fit with anything.

the downpipe wont work, the oil drain wont work (would have to be cut), the intercooler piping wont work, etc.

It would take a lot of modifying to make it work.

yea, i was thinking youd need a new downpipe made and possibly a new charge pipe.

ok time to put my foot in my mouth

took the whole stafford setup out today, and tried to drop just the obx mani in., first off it dosent even fit onto the head. its got clearence issues with the head ( i drew a red arrow to show where it was hitting )

second off, you guys are right, a new downpipe, charge pipe, and oil drain would be required. i took some pics showing that the obx mani would have the turbo sitting about 3 inches lower the the SF mani.

im not about to do all this modding with the thought of the obx mani cracking in a month in the back of my mind, oh well. im gonna clean up the SF mani and throw it back together.

if anyone is thinking about using this manifold, get ready to grind about 4/32 off both sides of the plate that bolts to the head so it will clear.

I still think its worth it, cause you can reweld it and grind all that off that you need to for much less then a big name brand.

i built that entire turbo system. I was the work-horse for that company. When i say i have turbocharged over 80 cars, i am serious. And i am only 21 years old. When i was there, i would build the manifolds, downpipes, intercoolers, pipes, and fuel systems.

There was simply too much **** going on there. I hated the fact that he couldnt pay for materials so i could build parts that needed to go out, yet he had enough money to put 7 kids through a private chuch school.

I said my peace before on my old name. And everyone knows what happened. So i guess i will leave it at that.

anyway, i back dezod and his work. His customer service is second to none, and his quality is outstanding. And any time i ask him to explain something, he has more than enough info to back everything up. And when i post something that he doesnt believe, he politely asks me to explain and provide evidence. And i hope it helps him out. In fact, i need to buy a flange from you in the next week or so Dezod. I need to finish my kit.

I am only on the site now to help people out with their questions. Sometimes i have a bad day and yell at people (mostly because of the situation with my shoulder), but for the most part i have no problem helping people out. In fact, i have a constant 90-100 PM's in my message box. I have to delete the damn things every day in order to keep room in there.

Anyway, im here only to help. And i encourage people to ask me if they have questions. I currently have a sleeved D17 with crower rods and custom arias pistons (the first ones for the D17). I also have a micropolished crank with champfered oil ports. And i am working on 2 intake manifolds designs. I am going against everyones advice and building a long-runner, large plenum, twin-throttle body intake manifold with a progressive linkage. Everyone thinks i am crazy for even trying it on such a small displacement motor (im using 2 stock TB's). But what the hell, my motor is boosted so it wont hurt too terribly much. I have the stuff laying around, so why not try it, right? My other manifold is a more simplistic design that resembles a GSR intake manifold. but i am only building these for me, so you all are outta luck. And if any of my ideas work, then dezod knows what other designs work and can possibly integrate them or sway him towards making similar parts. I dunno. Yet again, im just trying to help by showing what else works and trying new things.

Cool. Let me know. Thanks for the kind words. I was just curious as to what you meant when you said you built it.....
