67 El Camino Vs. 1994-2000 Civic Turboed hatchback
Sorry no pics of this but I will tell the story.
Today I was helping my friend move him and his wife and kids into there new apartment and we were going back and forth from apartments to get stuff.
Well anyway, he drives a 1967 el camino with a 327. Nothing special, it has some performance parts, but basically a stock 327 putting out about 280 at the wheels. Well this dude has imports for the fact that everytime he is at a light, some jack *** import guy will roll next to him and start reving and want to race. And I dont blame him because it happended a few times last night. And he is always talking about how hondas are slow, bla bla bla. I dont care though.
Well we were on the feeder of the beltway when we rolled up behind this hatchback civic that had a custom orange/gold paintjob. With a muffler that was hanging 6 inches off the bumper and a girl driving. Well I didnt think anything of it and I told him to race it for the hell of it. It was dropped and everything but as we were taking off, he kept telling me it was turboed, but I didnt believe him till I stuck my head out the wondow and this car was spooling up loud. It sounded as if it had the engine built up with the turbo. Well we pass it up and sure enough I could see the intercooler on the front so he decides to race it. It never turned out to be a full and even race, but as the civic approached us and was a few car lenghts behind us, my friend hits it and takes off, but even still that civic took him for a ride. We couldnt catch up with it for anything. All I have to say is I was making fun of him for the rest of the night because he got beat by an import. Still wasnt an even race because the chick had more momentum and was at more speed then we were, but was still funny.
Just thought I would share the story. But I will state, I do have repsect for older muscle cars, but I dont like them. I hate carburators and the fact that those cars have driveabilty issues all the time.
