Fall Paintball Meet? ~ Gauging Interest
Hey all,
I'm thinking of putting together a paintball meet for sometime this Fall. There will probably be a few folks out there that are relatively new to the sport, so those who are semi-pros, you're welcome to come out, just take it easy on the new folks (ie: a hit is a hit... there's no need to empty your cartridge on an unsuspecting newbie). Date, location, price, and all other details will be provided as they are determined.
Basically what I'm looking for right now is a list of those who would be interested and (if possible) the date of a future Saturday (or Saturdays) when you would be able to come out. If you could respond to this message or email me at norcali_crx_becca@yahoo.com as soon as possible, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone!
Note: Here's a list of folks down to go...
1. CRX_Becca
2. JNC_CRX
3. ZapThyCat
4. EnProcesso
5. xam
6. cg95660

Let's Add More Names to the List!!!

This is an invite that has been extended to other groups as well, so hopefully we'll get a good gathering together.
Also, I might be able to obtain a discount that would allow people to "rent" guns, hoppers, Co2 tanks and face masks at a reduced price. I still have a lot to check into regarding those who already own their equipment.... I'll post updates as soon as the info becomes available.
Jarrod... I know you said Oct. would be bad for you, but other than that, you guys have any specific dates you'd be down to go out and play??

I would play but after knee surgery it is not the same and moving like a raving maniac just does not fit any more. Which kinda sucks I have my own eq. plus its on compressed air. Maybe I will go and be the guy drinking beer through a mask while sniping furry little animals lol.....jk sorta!

WT Dude? I'm not 1337! All I got is a freaking Minimag. I haven't played in like 4 years, and that was when I weighed 80 lbs lighter.
And yes... if you get shot by a teammate, that teammate deserves to get shot right back, unless it REALLY was a total accident somehow... then I have mercy.
One thing I do remember is the tactics:
-A moving target is hard to shoot.
-If you keep popping up in the same place, the same way, you will be predictable and someone will pop you right in the noggin.
-This is a game that is ALL about angles. If you surround the opposing team, you win. Therefore, MOVE UP. Once you are stuck in your bunker with noplace to move, your team has lost.
-Know your strengths: if you aren't fast but you are a good shot... stay back and cover your faster teammates.
-When someone says to "cover them" that means that you lay down "covering fire" so that they can move to the next bunker unmolested.
-If no one is displaying leadership on your team, then YOU are the leader of the team. Be smart about it.
-Don't be afraid to waste paint... just don't waste too much of it.
-Being sneaky pays off, especially if you can sneak behind enemy lines (I love doing this!).
-When behind a bunker, tuck your body in so that you cannot get hit on an exposed extremity.
-DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP!!!
When you get out in the field, it's WAY different than walking around normally. Your mask will fog and you can hear every breath you take. This somehow adds to the terror. Once the buzzer goes off and the game has begun, the adrenaline will kick in. Run for the first cover you find. If you have no cover, then the only thing between you and the opposing team (and a painful welt) is your gun... that means you have to be alert and shoot them before they shoot you.
Remember the other players have that same adrenaline rush, so if someone is behind their bunker and you keep hitting it with paintballs, they aren't going to try to shoot you... the "THWAP THWAP" of hard paintballs hitting the wood is intimidating, and usually they are cowering down in terror.
Now that I'm thinking about this... I'm really wanting to play again

as long as we're giving out pointers, for anyone who might be on my team...
like jarrod said a moving target is hard to hit...UNLESS you know where they are going. if you see someone running for a tree, start shooting infront of the tree and let them run through your gunfire. dont try to follow them with your gun cuz the paintballs wont be able to keep up.
again like jarrod said, angles win games. on most fields there is a long bunker that will cover the middle section of the field, meaning it covers half of your side and half of the other teams side, this bunker is known as "the snake". THE SNAKE CAN HELP YOU WIN OR MAKE YOU LOSE! this is such a important bunker i cant stress it enough. if you can get all the way down to the other teams side and stay alive i can almost promise you victory. why? when your on the other teams side you'll have every member in view and their whole backs to lite up! i often have joygasm's when i'm in the snake.
your eyes, ears and mouth are your most deadly weapons when your on the field. watch where opponents are running too, watch where the streams of paint are going, listen for teammates who might need help, listen for teammates who might be trying to help YOU!, and if you see someone in trouble, or if your in trouble...YELL IT!!!! team work wins games!
guns are out! meaning you get shot in the gun, your out! keep total control of your gun, keep it in tight and dont stick it out for the whole world to see (and shoot!)
move around as much as you can, this is the only you'll get that guy behind the tree that you couldnt get a good shot at before!
rapid gun fire scares the **** out of people! atleast 1 time every time i go out and play i find myself doing this....if you find yourself in a 1 on 1 battle with someone, i try to "take control of them", start shooting as fast as you can at them and they will duck down behind their bunker and not even try to look up as long as the fire is still coming in so basically they're your bitch, lol. you can either then run up on them and shoot them or walk up slowly like a bad *** not givin' a what and shoot them.
alright after proof reading this it makes me sound hella hardcore (which i am
) but theres another thing to remember when your out there, its just a game! HAVE FUN!

Ok so is this going to be at an official park or just in a wooded area. Cause its way cooler to play in a "real" setting vs a made up one. Also my gun is shooting around 350+ fps and they want it at 280. I would have to turn it all down which kills my distance and is a pain considering it would be a pressure and spring drop.
Edit: Is it bad to go through a whole case of paint every time out??

Holy crap... reading your messages nearly makes me **** myself out of fear (thanks, Chris...
). Maybe I'll excuse myself from play and let you guys get the whole "let's target newbies" thing out of your system in the first couple rounds. Or better yet... I'll be a team all my own and sit on the sidelines shooting people in the heiney as I see fit.

and 350fps (Feet Per Second)!! dude thats crazy high! the reason its set to 280fps is for everyones saftey. if 280fps leaves a welt, 350 could draw blood. it would mean lowering your pressure on the gun, but lower pressure means you'll get more shots per fill with your air/co2 tank.
and no its not bad to go through a case of paint in a day, i do it all the time.

350 fps! Why not just shoot regular bullets out there?
Dude you're crazy if you think I'm gonna play with you if you're gonna be shooting 350 fps. It may kill your range, but that's better than you killing me. If I tuned my gun to 350 fps, you can bet that my range would be great too....
Long story short, we want newbies.... Becca and Sam andy anyone else that's not used to the game... we want to make them welcome and not scared to death of overpowered guns wiping them out. It's a game, we need to welcome them and show them that it doesn't matter if we lose or don't even shoot someone, what matters is that we all have fun no matter what. We don't want to have such powerful guns so that they'll dominate the field and the noobs shooting at 250 can't even reach us... that's not fun for them. Bottom line I would be fine shooting at 230 and letting the noobs shoot higher than us just so that they'd have a better chance.
As it is, my gun shoots slower than normal because of my barrel (rifle-ported) so, although it may not shoot far or hit hard, you can bet that will hit what it's aimed at

LOL its not that bad. Infact I have been shot point blank by my gun in the foot..........dont ask! Yea it hurt but no blood. As for the cops they rolled on us a few times and every single time they where glad we where having fun with paint vs using real guns and causing trouble. One cop even checked out our stuff and was like dam those are fairly decked out. I am running compressed air so I have my own scuba tank and fill station letting me shoot my little heart out so refills are not a prob but I have to lug alot of crap around. As for my gun pressure I am running around 1000 psi to the gun. But if you are all scarred I will turn it down. Besides I only have a spider so if some one brought a auto cocker no matter how high I turn my gun up i will be out shot. Hence the reason for my gun being up that high, I was playing against tippmans with flatlines and there is no better sniper out there than that puppy. Becca don't worry its all fun.....with some bruises. Now with all this talk I wanna dig out my stuff and dust it off. I also have too get my scuba tank re certified.

I'm willing to hear suggestions about different places to play, however, I have a limited number of discount tickets (that will significantly reduce the cost for people using them) but are only good at certain fields. Each ticket requires the person using it to rent a gun from the place, including paying a little extra $$ for extra paint and CO2 refills. The tickets also include some paintballs, at least 1 tank of CO2, and a face mask.
I'm working out details on exactly what each place will cost, but if you guys can tell me what field you'd like to play at, whether or not you'd like one of the discount tickets, and what saturday(s) you'd be available it would help me out a lot.
Thanks!
