here's an example of info found on a VIN:

ALCULATION: POTENTIAL ODOMETER ROLLBACK
On 12/19/1996 the odometer reading was reported
as:
130,000 miles
On 12/07/1998 the odometer reading was reported as: 44,000 miles

This represents a mileage decrease of:

when i entered in my vin all it did was decode it, not list milage..where do you find that?

i bet it says something like that for my 88 dodge omni, it had a 5 digit odometer and some places listed it as 1XX,XXX and others just XX,XXX

And yes, the initial intention of this was simply a VIN decoder of some sort, for free that is. carfax.com is a pay for information site.
