just drove an 8thgen....more pics and details, page 3...56k beware
i was driving by the honda/acura dealer about an hour ago, saw the 06 tsx, then when i was passing, saw an 8thgen parked in the lot. i stopped, went in, and tim, a salesperson i have dealt with before, let me test drive the car. here's some pics:

...made in japan.

the fit and finish is pretty good, compared to the 7thgen. ride is very smooth, handles pretty good (for stock), but the tires came loose pretty easily. no rattles at all on the interior, the digital speedo is pretty nice.
i like almost everything about it, except for the damn gas pedal. this thing is a bitch to drive. it is hinged, connected to the floor, and you gotta push it from the top. also, to floor it, its only about 3 inches or so down, which seemed kinda abnormal. the engine is very quiet and stock sounding, the car is about the same speed acceleration wise as the 7thgen (there was me, the sales guy, and a friend of mine in the car).
the sales guy tim got kinda mad when i bounced it off the rev limiter a couple times, said i should keep it below 5k (it had ~30 miles on it at the time). the shifter throw is ridiculous, and the ebrake position is very good, except it looks a bit weird.
it was an 06 lx sedan 5spd, with 4 corner side curtain windows. the msrp is ridiculous on this car. oh, he also hooked me up with the 06 coupe/si brochure, the si looks insane.

OOH, i forgot to get a pic of this, but supposedly the R18 has a way of measuring the viscosity of the oil, and built into the trip meter is an oil life gauge, with a percentage next to it. the sales guy said it actually measures viscosity, but im just thinkin its like a maintenance required thing, that you just reset and it counts the miles. not sure though.

yeah its some bs **** they do in this area, the market adjustment on my car was like 500...maybe it will go down as the 8thgen sells more.

A lot of higher end luxury cars have the viscosity measurement system for the oil that checks the oils viscosity, at other times, immediately after start up to determine if it's time for an oil change. I think the system is featured most prominently on BMWs, I don't know about other cars.
My work-truck which is a 2003 GMC 2500 Heavy-Duty Pick-up has the oils viscosity. It tells what oil life percent is and it tells you how many mile you can drive before changing it. It's not a high end luxury vehicle but it has leather and all that good stuff.

For those discussing the "oil change indicator", I realize its a bit off topic, but I believe the way that it determines when maintenance is necessary is simply by looking at how the vehicle is driven. Using all of the data from the existing vehicle sensors it calculates when you should need certain maintenance items. I could be wrong, but I don't think it has anything to do with measuring viscocity of the oil or anything like that. GM has had this on many of their vehicles for some time.
Now back on topic....WTF is up with that price!? Also, how are the seat fabrics? I've been trying to get a good opinion on this. IMO the 7th gen seat fabrics are crap, hopefully they are nicer in the 8th gen.

Whoa! 21K??? That's off my list for now. Looking more like an RSX-S all the time.
Geez... wonder how much they'll try to gouge on the SI.
Regional Market adjustment.... yeah, right. I'd laugh all the way off the lot.
