quick & cheap ways to get some more power ?

I have an 05 stock LX. I had to get a few things checked out the other day and the loner 05 I got was also an LX but seemed to be mush snappier - say lik 20% stronger torque.

What's up with my car ? I have 2000 miles on it now, but the loaner did as well.

What can I put on it or adjust to make it pull a little harder ? Don't want to go turbo route. I have an auto (b/c of my wife ) , maybe a chip will work or some kind of timing adjustment or ?

thanks in advance.

your car is still under its break in period. 2000 miles is basically new. drive normally til its due for an oil change. then you can start considering better motor oil or stick with Honda motor oil 5w-20 and run it another 3000 miles to be safe. i believe theres something with addictives in the honda oil that helps your engine prevent premature wear? not sure...maybe just rumors?

as for mods, start off with the DIY cable throttle adjustment. itll give your pedal a better response with your foot.

thanks for the post. When is best to change the first oil ? Book says 5-10K but I wonder if 3 is better on the first one ? Would you say Castrol or what oil to put in .. the oil in it feels sticky to me.

I'll look for the cable mod in the DIY section... thank you !

ground kit will give you about .5-1.5 hp at 30 dollars so theres your best bet. then you can get a v2 or fipk2 intake theres 200 plus for 2 horses umm then theres trade it in for a car that will never get 40 mpg those cars tend to be faster.

leave that crap in there a good 5k miles before your first change. lots of oils are good. search for posts from S2000man01 and Jrfish007 on this topic for info.

don't go cheap on the filter... definately get one with a "drain-back" valve in it. this will be a piece of plastic/silicon covering the holes from the inside on the outer ring of the filter. it prevents oil from draining-back to the pan and causing a rough start.

There is no such thing as cheap fast ways to get power from our d17 the only way to get power is expensive and its called k20 swap or Turbo. As of now those are the only ways to get POWER. Cheap is no such word in the modification process of a d17. You can also go to diy and check out the throttle adjustment it helps a tiny bit and get a adjustable cam gear and advance the timing but seriously i would consider swap or turbo
